Are you ready kids?

Doo dah doo doo!
[doo doo d'ga doo doo, d'ga doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo x2]
Ha ha ha ha ha

Now slap your hands
Now spread those wings
Doo dah doo doo!

Feather your bangs
Shake your buns [that's nice]
Now think about your dad

What's your dad like?
I wanna meet that dad!

Doo dah doo doo!
[doo doo d'ga doo doo, d'ga doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo x2]

Now smile at the moon
Love that moon
Have a glass of wine [it's okay kids, I won't tell]

Now lick your lips [turnin' me on now]
Ha ha ha haaa!

Make a doo doo [do it kids!]
Make a doo doo

Doo dah doo doo!
[doo doo d'ga doo doo, d'ga doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo x2]

Slap your face
Slap your friend
Get sexy kids
Doo dah doo doo!

Stinks in here
Smells like meat, rotten meat
Kids why would you bring that rotten meat in here of all places?

Kids you stupid motherfuckers!
What the hell's wrong with you kids?

    Song Meaning

Let's take a look at these lyrics together so that we can understand exactly what is being said in this beautiful song from yesteryear.

For this thought exersize, imagine that you are a young man. You were invited by a friend to a respectable yet grungy night club, and as the night has gone on you've had less and less fun. It is an intimate crowd, but you don't really know anyone, and your friend is off mixing with smiling faces and beautiful people who only bring you memories of the pain of lover's lost and never gained.

Before you stands an older, peppered gentleman. He wears a suit of gold, and has a warm, friendly smile on his face.

Are you ready kids? <Attention grabber; initiation of Child imagery, beginning an internal life sequence. This establishes the roles between you and the man, namely you and everyone around you as children and he as an aged adult human man

Doo dah doo doo! <This is the sound of two human beings participating in the mating ritual of love. While there are many variations, this tune's namesake reflects on a more spontaneous, questionably agreed upon encounter.

[doo doo d'ga doo doo, d'ga doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo x2] <Mating continues here, sets itself as the emphasis of the song

Ha ha ha ha ha <A sound a pleasure, often emitted when someone has completed something they are proud of or enjoy, in this case namely ensnaring you in his kind, randy gaze

Now slap your hands <When you are a child, this is the first thing you learn to do; infant imagery. He is taking you through the stages of your life, showing you that he knows who you are; he has been there and will be there still, if you'll allow him

Now spread those wings <You are growing; becoming smarter, faster. This image is meant to bring about thoughts of your early, pre-pubescent years, and again reflects on his status, as one who has watched you grow

...Doo dah doo doo! <Again, the sound of human mating, returning us back to our theme

Feather your bangs <You are now a teenager/young adult; you are trying to look nice to impress members of the appropriate sex. You are confident yet shy, and you are in the prime of your mating years

Shake your buns [that's nice] <A reflection on your past attempts to find a mate, as well as a compliment concerning the current perceived state of your posterior. This observation pulls you away from your thoughts and leaves you vulnerable; putty in the older man's mind-hand as he stands before you on the poorly lighted lynoleum dance floor

Now think about your dad <Father, paternal figure, creator; a disciplinarian and a hero all in one

What's your dad like? <Solidified imagery, meant to bring you into a false sense of security concerning older, more experienced men. Pain, excitement, pleasure and experience all merge here, and it's here this older gentleman wants you to be, for if he can gain your trust, he can gain your sweet doo dah doo doo

I wanna meet that dad! <He'd like to meet your dad, or the Male member of your family. This statement also implies a relationship wherein he would meet your family over Crimbus hams, though the integrity of his statement is very questionable, especially in this environment

Doo dah doo doo! [doo doo d'ga doo doo, d'ga doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo x2] <More sensual imagery, almost like a spell being cast over you, young and supple and so very ignorant of the pleasures that an older man can provide

Now smile at the moon <The man turns around, exposing his bottom to you

Love that moon <He is hypnotizing you with his sensual hips, bringing you closer

Have a glass of wine [it's okay kids, I won't tell] <He turns around, presenting you a glass of wine. Again enacts adult/child imagery, making it seem as if you're breaking the rules and being naughty while he is providing you that outlet. His encouraging rush implies drunkenness or inebriation will be used to initiate the desired doo dah doo doo

Now lick your lips [turnin' me on now] <The older man makes sure you drink every drop of your wine, which suggests there may be something in the drink that will raise your libido and make you more willing to participate in his further requests

Ha ha ha haaa! <The older gentleman begins to show his arousal outright

Make a doo doo [do it kids!] <The man encourages you to "Make a doo doo," which implies he'd like you to pull your rear from the safety of your pants and use it to create a pile of waste there before him

Make a doo doo <The man continues to insist. It is not until you "Make a doo doo" that the older man can initiate his mating dance with your rear, seeing as no one wants to pop their doodle inside of a dirty heiney

Doo dah doo doo! [doo doo d'ga doo doo, d'ga doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo x2] <The placement of this imagery is meant to explicitly describe the moment when the older man creates dirty love soup with your freshly excavated clean bottom hole, right there on the dance floor for everyone to see

Slap your face <This is a direct command, showing that you are now in the dominant control of the older man

Slap your friend <He is using the combination of the shock of the on-lookers and your willingness to listen to him to bring others into the mix, creating the perfect scenario for a full-on adult orgy

Get sexy kids <Things are going well, and the entire club seems to be getting into this. You are no longer the pure focus of his attention

Doo dah doo doo! <Everyone in the club is doing dah doo doo

Stinks in here <The older man stands and watches for a while as you lie on the floor, hearing only his steps and the sound of hot, sweaty bodies slapping against each other again and again

Smells like meat, rotten meat <You can feel him pacing, sense his motion as he looks around the room, looking for the source of the "Rotten Meat" Kids why would you bring that rotten meat in here of all places? <The older man finds the "Rotten Meat," an image meant to describe a stinking or disease-ridden set of genitals

Kids you stupid motherfuckers! What the hell's wrong with you kids? <The older gentleman, who has been ever so nice up to this point, is now shaking his head in disappointment. It is common etiquette to have everyone in the orgy checked before anything initiates, and it seems that someone in the group was not properly screened. This is a danger to everyone involved, which is explained in the follow-up video: Gotta Keep your Meat Ice-Cold, an instructional guide on how to protect and save your meat from becoming rotten

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
