"With Love" as written by and Guy Edward John/potter Garvey....
Best intentions bring joyless droughts
Pack your hacksaw come push me out
When your dentures prevent your smile
These adventures will fill your eyes
With love
With love

You been goin' see through, could do with a little sun
I give my liver to see you, abide and ride shotgun
A Bacchian scandal awaits me, just can't do it alone
Your sweetheart probably hates me, but I'll send you home your dome filled up
With love
With love
Fill your eyes with love
With love

Love will find you out
Be sure love will find you out
Love will find you out
Be sure love will find you out
Love will find you out
Be sure love will find you out
Love will find you out
Be sure love will find you out

Lyric CorrectionThe second line "Pack your hacksaw come push me out" should be "Pack your hacksaw come bust me out" - it's just his accent that makes bust sound like boost!

I think this song is about having an affair and, having tried to stop, saying "Come on, it'll be something to look back on when we're old" and have fun now because you have to be true to what you want and your own desires.

Like the other songs on the album, it's about memories but this track is more about making memories than recalling them.

General Commentafter seeing Elbow perform songs from this album, I know this song to be about nothing simpler than going out and getting drunk with mates. Garvey uses this song to describe the antics him and friends would get up to. 'I give my liver to see you' expresses this perfectly.

however, there is still the element of memories there, implied with 'you been goin' see through'- as in going grey?

before I knew this I had no idea what this song was about, but now the answer seems obvious. I love this song for expressing Garvey's cheeky and mischievous nature for going out with friends, 'you're sweetheart probably hates me', I'm sure she does if she gets a drunken husband home every night! It reminds us of the good times we share with those we love, no matter how old we get.
