"The Line" as written by and Charles Fink....
She looks out her window,
And the stars don't feel that far away,
She watches the wind blow,
Blowing all her problems away,

But then she'll ask, as she cleans up the glass,
"Is this the line?
Is this the line?
Is this the line between heaven and hell?
Is this the line where I get up and walk out?
Is this the line where you get drunk you yell?"

She fixes her make-up,
Treading lightly on the floor,
Hoping he won't wake up,
As she makes her way towards the door,

But then she'll say, as she waves him away,
"Is this the line?
Is this the line?
Is this the line between heaven and hell?
Is this the line where I get up and walk out?
Is this the line where you get drunk you yell?"

She says "I've lived my life like a diamond,
Bright and hard like a diamond",
She says "I've lived my life like a diamond,
Bright and hard like a diamond".

General CommentIn my opinion its about a girl contemplating suicide.
She is close to being pushed over the edge, and she keeps asking herself 'Is this the line?'

I think the final verse tells us that she has finally given in and is looking back on her life before she ends it.

General CommentWhen she is cleaning up the glass, contemplating whether or not she should get up and walk out, fixing her make-up because she is probably crying, and tip-toeing around so "he won't wake up," I think of an abusive relationship.

When she asks, "is this the line?" I think she is deciding if this is finally the time that she has had too much and needs to leave, especially when "she waves him away" as she is walking out of the bedroom.

Whatever it is actually about, it is a beautiful, albeit sad, song.

General CommentBeautiful descriptive lyrics. I'm sad there aren't any comments...

Charlie Fink did a great job at the 3rd person perspective in this one.
