They got into this place
Where I feel there ain't no escape
Why can't I get a little peace
A little recompense
For the work that's been done
Perceive them under the sun
When the movement gets the troop
And lets them go get gun
Let us blow up something
To avoid all this battling
We've been put up so long
Tied down to straw

Blow
(Shouldn't make a second of)
Smoke

Where's that coming from, the West Side
Begin the new process, stars at night
Sling an arrow over the ocean
Through our air that spits poison
A heart between and a native son
No beach, southern soul, California
Get the boom and the fire from the sun
Now won't there
Everyone catch the reflection, singing

Blow
(Shouldn't make a second of)
Smoke
(Hey)

"By controlling the frequency of the sound waves, we can produce a musical tone. For instance..."

Be with us always
Even until the end
Be with us always
Even until the end
(Gotta be)

For these are troubled times
These are troubled times
Got to be with us always
Even until the end of the ages

"The crew were mostly just kids. From the beaches south of L.A. Rock-n-rollers with one foot in their graves."

"All solid objects can be destroyed by the proper pitch."

A google search shows that "The crew were mostly just kids..." is a sample from the film Apocalypse Now. The other two quotes are from the film In Like Flint.

I can't find any official transcripts of the lyrics, so a lot of these lines are my best guesses.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
