All of these grateful looks
All these grateful eyes
All the furious stares these fretful sighs

Promising everything
To everyone
We'll be back soon
You're my favorite one

And I'll keep it quiet
I'll hold you dear
The whispering fills the ear
Tell me you'll stay
We would have such fun
And the lie, you don't need anyone

And the screams, the wails, and the call
The headiness of the fall
Ten-thousand miles from where we began
Falling asleep with a picture in hand
It was all for a woman

You say that you're grateful for the time alone
Two years away and I don't miss home
And someone asks you if, you ever think of her
So you smile politely and you demur

But then all at once your head starts to swim
And you can feel her breath on your skin
If I let you stay, the same spot today
She's above you, below you in ways

And you're shivering cold
Like you're just ten years old
And she's lying asleep in your bed
And you're standing beside her
The light from inside her
Filling up the darkness in your head
It was all, for a woman

You've drowned in our teasing
You've forgotten the reason
The muse inspires the art
You'd give anything for
For her to say them once more
The words you believed at the start

Ten-thousand miles from where it began
Falling asleep with her picture in hand
And it was all, it was all
For the look in her eyes
Of the promise and the lie of a woman

    My Interpretation

This song is about being on tour. He promises his girl that he loves her and she's his one and only(We'll be back soon, You're my favorite one), but after a few months on the road he gets wrapped up in his life as a rock and roll star. He knows that she's his favorite, but doesn't think she can stay faithful due to fear of being along. He starts thinking of terrible thoughts of her with someone else (And a lie, you don't need anyone) and then they begin to argue (And the screams, the wails, and the call,The headiness of the Fall) and lose touch.

Even though he tries to play it off like he's a big rock star and doesn't need her he can't lie to himself. He starts thinking about her more and more (But then all at once your head starts to swell, And you can feel her breath on your skin). Thinking about former memories so much that he can feel her. These memories refuse to leave his head (If I let you stay, the same spot today). Slowly these memories start destroying the bad ones (And you're standing beside her, The light from inside her, Filling up the darkness in your head)

The thought slowly take over his mind where he can't think about anything else (And you've drowned in the teasing). He then realizes that all of this fame was to impress the girl he left behind (You've forgotten the reason, The muse inspired the art). He then regrets everything and wishes for nothing more just to go back to day one and hear her say that she loves him for who he is and not the rock and roll star he has become (You'd give anything for, Her to say them once more,The words you believed at the start) because it was all for a woman, it was all for her.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about a guy trying to prove to a woman who left him do to a lack of success or ambition. All of his hard work he has done to get to where he currentley is, is all for her to prove to her that he is good enough for her.

"We'll be back soon You're my favorite one" to me is him pleading with her that he will get his head on straight and do everything he can to make her happy to get back together.

"And I'll keep it quiet I'll hold you dear Your whisperin fills the ear" He is the only one who knows of his plans and everything she says will be in his head for ever

"Tell me you'll stay We would have such fun And a lie, you don't need anyone" Now he is pleading with her to stay reminding her of old times

"You say that you're grateful for the time alone Two years away and I don't miss home And everyone asks you if you still think of her So you smile politely and you demur But then all at once your head starts to swell And you can feel her breath on your skin If I let you stay, the same spot today She's above you, below you in ways" He is trying to put on a front as a hard ass so know one knows the pain and agony that he is really going through missing her

"And you're standing beside her The light from inside her Filling up the darkness in your head It was all for a woman And you've drowned in the teasing You've forgotten the reason The muse inspired the art"

He starts to question his choices of fighting for the relationship wondering if she is worth all of this struggle

"You'd give anything for Her to say them once more The words you believed at the start

Ten-thousand miles from where it began Falling asleep with a picture in hand And it was all... it was all For the look in her eyes Of the promise of the light of a woman"

He is not sure anymore if his plan will work but is still going to work for it just for the off chance it will work but she is worth all the pain struggle and headach.

    Song Fact

I heard this live a week ago. Mikel Jollett explained that it had a direct connection to their other song "Sometime Around Midnight" in that they are about the same woman, at least in a way. He explained that the woman referenced in "someone asks you if you ever think of her" is that woman, and that of course it's impossible for him not to, or at least to forget about her, as he has been singing "Sometime Around Midnight" nearly every night for the past seven years (they've toured that long, with short breaks. He also replaced two years on tour with seven). Based on (this is slightly more my interpretation) what he said, the song is also about her in that the woman helped start the band, or at least "Sometime Around Midnight" did, as it pushed him to leave home /get away.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
