We’ve had our troubles here, as clever hopes expire
I think were falling apart
Obsessive private lives, emptiness of denial
We’ve got this down to an art

Those childhood memories, lost fields and our bruised knees
Now faded photographs, depict forgotten laughs
Dancing to traffic lights, the moon was huge that night
Now i see tired eyes, your throwing away everything

There’s no way I’m working for
The one who could have you
There’s no way I’m working for
The one who could have you

(can have you)

Uncertain and afraid, low dishonest decade
A love alone in the dark
Wardrobes of excuses, no one ever looses
The years of frowns like thunder

Dancing on wasted feet, the way you’d cling to me
My minds now in the past, mirror of broken glass
The way your car would screech and fires on the beach
This time will vaguely leak we’ll only end up hurting again

There’s no way I’m working for
The one who could have you
There’s no way I’m working for
The one who could have you

Could have you
There’s no way I’m working for
The one who could have you
There’s no way I’m working for
The one who could have you

The song I am going to talk about is a amazing song by my forever that I love (Ellie) but I carnt say it's my favourite because it changes all the time!

The lyrics that I love are 'Those childhood memories, lost fields and are bruised knees now faded photographs, depict forgotten laughs dancing to traffic lights, the moon was huge that night now I see tired eyes, your throwing away everything.'

This song can relate to me in some ways when I was younger with all my childhood memories and a lot of bruised knees!(It is true that you don't know what you have till its gone) like it says in the song now faded photographs that's what all those memories could turn into just faded photographs.

the bit were Roy sings 'My minds now in the past, mirror of broken glass' can also relate to me because I am always looking back in the past were things were good with my family but now my parents have split up and gone separate ways it does feel like all those memories are turning into faded photographs.

But know I heard this song kinda makes me feel like I go to look forward to the future and not into the past all the time like I have been doing most of my life!

remember check my forever out at myforeverofficial.com or go to youtube.com/watch (this version is acoustic)

    thanks for listening guys! (:

There's no way I'm working for The one who could have you There's no way I'm working for The one who could have you

the chorus is definitely my favorite part of this song. not only for it's sound, but for it's lyrics. To me, the narrator has memories of maybe a past relationship that could have been something great and still thinks of that person. he's stuck in a world of fakes and drama queens and maybe the one person who made sense to him, or who was different from all the rest, ended up being an abusive relationship, not violent just aggressive.

    what a beautiful song.

This one is a heart breaker. I think its got something for anyone who still dwells one of their more recent failed relationships.

One of the things I love most about these lyrics is that unspoken understanding they embody between two people. I'm sure this song in effect, wrote itself. Roy draws in a passage of time that you can feel in his lyrics. It gives this simple song so much depth. And I think the dependent nature of photographs and on the seasons really gives a person (or in effect, the couple) the feeling of being at mercy of the inevitable.

Its funny how well it works. That fading photographs that could support the burden of a relationship.. Its as tangible in the song as the 'love' between two people that you may have once felt leave your own failed relationship.

This song is special to me- I've certainly got healing to do of my own.(blatantly obvious?) But I believe this song is more than a sad retrospection. It signifies a coming to terms with life and love. Something we all get along to doing as we go on. These lyrics kind of capture the beauty of the ebb and flow of emotion and attachment.

this song reminds me a lot of a quote said in the movie paris, je t'aime it says: There are times when life calls out for a change. A transition. Like the seasons. Our spring was wonderful, but summer is over now and we missed out on autumn. And now all of a sudden, it's cold, so cold that everything is freezing over. Our love fell asleep, and the snow took it by surprise. But if you fall asleep in the snow, you don't feel death coming. Take care

    Beautiful

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
