Gonna take the rains on this one
Trust me I know what I’m doing
I lived here most my life

This ain’t Hollywood way up close
Shwarz tries to play us close
Cause he says we took cash from your’s
The day my city was cast as your’s
We could be New York
We could be LA
Seatle or Boston
Shot down to the bay
Who we are you probably couldn’t say
Had a ballteam, a lot of them couldn’t play
People visit, a lot of them wouldn’t stay
Most of the year the sky stays good and grey
Drink this coffee cause we need the energy
Barely bat an eye when we see celebrities
Whether they’re setting up for the next location shot
Or in the market for a nice vacation spot
Nobody here’s consuming their cash
Just don’t throw stones in the city of glass

Cause it is what it is round here
Cause it is what it is up here

This ain’t Hollywood, we down for glory
Cause it just don’t rain in California
Aound the clock it’s the sound of commerce
Electricity and bottled water
So some get dollars when it rains all winter
Most wear a headset at a call centre
And might scrap it out over lost commission
Cause this shit don’t add up to the cost of living
Very few places you could mention is pretty
With such a deep seated sense of the gritty
The camera ’s seen every inch of this city
From amateur porn stars pinching their titties
To summer block busters
Some do not trust us
We get controlled substances across customs
And brush with the law like Colgate y’all
At one of these strip clubs you could find your soulmate

Cause it is what it is round here
Cause it is what it is up here

This ain’t America, we try to pretend
It’s only the villains who die in the end
For you it must be amusing to watch
All this foreign production
Moving to ….
It’s biz as use, still drop syllables
Immune to Eastern scorn and ridicule
It ain’t news here, they don’t know us
They worst they could do is up and move here
We have room, if you can afford it
But if you pay rent then you’re losing a fortune
A lucrative market, get locked into payments
Make ‘em of grow up in your basement
Not going to say shit, we keep to ourselves
Those tell don’t know, those who know don’t tell
You have your style, this is our own,
You don’t live here, this is our home

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
