I'd walk, I would run but I'd die before I would get to you There's no way I'd get to you The roads have fallen off this earth There's no way I would get to you in time, no way I'd get to you

So please won't you come flying Won't you come rescue me Like you do in my dreams And please don't you take your time Our candle's burning out in an hour I'd like to hold you one last time

Our violet sun is burning out Our crumbling town is falling apart Our sun is burning out

So please won't you come flying Won't you come rescue me Like you do in my dreams And please don't you take your time Our candle's burning out in an hour I'd like to hold you one last time

Our sun is burning out In an hour, burning out

I'd like to hold you I'd like to hold you one last time

Here are the lyrics and from them I get that either she or he are drifting away from one of them and the other wants him/her to come back but they can't seem to reach the other to get them to love them again.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
