I can fly like a bird, not in the sky
which can always swim and always dry
I say goodbye at night and morning hi
I'm part of you, what am I

I follow and lead as you pass
dress yourself in black, my darkness lasts
I flee the light but without the sun
Your view of me would be gone

I can see the damage that
I am causing you is so benign
You want me to be gone
But I have just begun
I am the only one "undone"
I'm a broken miracle now
in your head

I don't feel
Like I am real
But I know
It's all imaginary
Are they real
And do they feel
Is all the pain
just inside my head

I am what men love more than life
Fear more than death or mortal strife
What dead men have and rich require
I'm what contented men desire

You want me to be gone
But I have just begun
You will never know how far I've come
What goes up must never come back down
In your head

I don't feel
Like I am real
But I know
It's all imaginary
Are they real
And do they feel
Is all the pain
just inside my head

It's all inside my head
It's just inside my
It's all inside my
They're all inside my

I see them always but they're
all inside my head
all inside my head
they're all inside my head

It's killing me
to see I'm killing you
Death is magic
Say Abracadavre now
You see me now you
Don't cry when I am gone

These shackles they come
With certain opportunities
They won't let me get away
But they show me we're the same
we're the same
we're the same
They show me that we are the same

I can't give in
I won't give in
It's not a state of mind
I'm wretched but I'm powerful and

I don't feel
Like I am real
But I know
It's all imaginary
Are they real
And do they feel
Is all the pain
just inside my head

It's all inside my head
It's just inside my
It's all inside my
They're all inside my

I see them always but they're
all inside my head
all inside my head
they're all inside my head

    Song Meaning

hmm... abracadavre... well, first off, i know that the word abracadavre means raising the dead in a simplified way, but it literally means "magic corpse". the lyrics... ah the lyrics. yet the song itself is an interesting topic all on its own. the song is focused on samantha's state of mind throughout these events, like 115, but 115 was more focused on her anger towards richtofan and the death of her father. However, Abracadavre is more about her mental state thoughout her life, and how she even views herself.

    THE LYRICS:

the first and second verses are both riddles. "I can fly like a bird, not in the sky, which can always swim yet always dry." what flies like a bird and swims in the water, yet never leaves the ground, and never gets wet? lets hear som more... "say goodbye at night and morning hi. i'm a part of you: what am i?" what goes away during the night and returns in the morning, and is a part of you (including the first example above)? YOUR SHADOW!

the second verse goes something like this: "i am what men love more than life; fear more than death or mortal strife" What do men love more than life, yet fear more than death or strife? we need to hear a little more: "what dead men have and rich require; i'm what contented men desire." what do dead men have that rich men do not? what do contented, or happy men want? the answer is NOTHING. men love NOTHING more than life and fear NOTHING more than death or strife. Dead men have NOTHING and rich men need NOTHING. and happy men desire NOTHING. make sense? well, if not, i can't explain further.'

ELENA'S VOCALS: when she says the lines: "i can see tha damage that i am causing you is so benign" she means that she is aware that she's causing you pain, but she believes its not important. she does not care for your pain. when she says: "you want me to be gone, but i have just be-GUN!!!" she is saying that even if you try to force her to stop her actions, she has not been satisfied and has 'just begun'. "i am the only one undone!! i'm a broken miracle now-!" i interpret this as her more evil side (hence the louder, angrier voice) saying that she's the one who is in pain and nothing can be done to stop her wrath.

CHORUS: here's a major part to the song: the chorus of the song basically stating that samantha isn't sure if she's really there, if she's just s SHADOW, or NOTHING at all (riddles?). she also states theat she thinks all the pain is just inside her head. this is an important line which states how she decides to either fade away like a forgotten spirit, or try and exact her revenge i=on Richtofan and the gang.

probably the most simple sections of the song is the bridge. she states: "these shackes they come with certain opertunities" which means that even though she has no hope of being anything but a spirit in geat pain, she has the power to try and kill richtofan. she also states that she is "wretched but powerful". this means that even isf she is so horrible, being dead, she does however have incredible power, the ability to raise the dead and attack richtofan with endless waves and hordes of the undead.

well, thats what i think; feel free to reply and share your opinions with me. adios...

    ...for now.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
