"Off You Go" as written by and Patricia J. Griffin....
You can go wherever you wanna go
Go wherever you wanna go
Fly up to the moon and say hello now
You can go wherever you wanna go

You don’t ever have to go to war no more
Never have to go to war no more
Wear them boots and swim that icy shore now
You don’t ever have to go to war no more

You can get up on some sunny day and run
Run a hundred miles just for fun now
Heartaches and yesterdays don’t weigh a ton now
You can get up on some sunny day and run

You don’t ever have to pay the bills no more
Break a sweat or walk a worried floor now
Working like a dog ain’t what you’re for now
You don’t ever have to pay the bills no more

You can go wherever you wanna go
You can go wherever you wanna go
Go to where the time’s wound all the way down
Put a penny on the track and wait for train sounds
Tell your mama you’re coming back before the sun’s down
You can go wherever you wanna go

General CommentThis song has all the parts of Patty Griffin that I love. Of the lyrics there is story, description, poetry, insight. The music is intimate, honest, balanced. The emotion is believable, balanced, tasteful. Lines jump out, like the alliteration of "how their daddy died" or the rhyme "equated/demonstrated"

It all gets rounded up and tied together. For example,
The first line of the second verse, "In the evening the meadow sings without care"
And the last line of the last verse, "Down in the meadow there's darkness descending"
The word choice is intentional, the carefree meadow takes on a negative image, a trigger for flashbacks ('starts her life over but never forgets' the death in the meadow.)

You can take the story at face value, you can relate to the subtext, you can find beauty in the song. And, ultimately, its Patty Griffin's voice and guitar that carry the song, that are so perfect.

General CommentThis is not the lyrics to 'Off you go". These lyrics are for 'Go Wherever You Wanna Go". Off you go is a Patty Griffin song that is not officially released, but, on Grooveshare site. It's a great song and I wish she would release it soon.
