"Sensitive Kid" as written by and Jonathan Russell Nathan Willett....
I try being sweet
It's very deep in me
Now I can only see red on red
My mom's going out with my best friends' dad
She talking loud I can't believe what she said

[Repeat: x2]
A sensitive kid

They sold the house, left photo albums there
No silver ware while paper walls were bare
I called all my friends, "Come over! Come one, come all!"
Let's get a crowd here for one last hoorah!

[Repeat: x2]
A sensitive kid

Who made me

[Repeat: x2]
A sensitive kid

The message was bleak, my brother pounded it in me
You climb it up or you cut it down
This is your family tree
I know you were born with a heart of gold
But, I want a purple heart that cannot dissolve

[Repeat: x2]
A sensitive kid

Don't call me

[Repeat: x2]
A sensitive kid

I can't tell you why you should a known it

[Repeat: x4]
Sensitive kids start acting like a grown up

General Commentjust some of my thoughts on the song:

so it seems like this song is about a kid (probably a teenager) who is struggling with the fact that his parents are separated. his mom is dating his best friend's dad, he's moved out of his childhood home and he feels his family has been destroyed in a way.

my favourite line is "you climb it up or you cut it down, this is your family tree." i took it to mean you only have one family and its your choice whether you are a part of it or not.

i love the last line "sensitive kid start acting like a grown up". stop crying about your problems and looking for sympathy and grow up. shit happens.

Lyric CorrectionThis has been bothering me for months "a purple heart that cannot dissolve"? That doesn't make sense?
I believe the correct line is "But I won a purple heart that cannot be sold"
