"Come Down" as written by and Charles Cave Harry Mcveigh....
I felt loved last night for the first time in a long time
It feels like coming home to stay
Like falling in the sea when it's too hot in the sun
Made things so much worse today

I know you said you'll miss me
But I know that you won't
Because time is like a wave, that washes the pain away
When you come down
I know I said I'll see you
When it gets to New Year
But now that all the rain stopped falling
All I think is getting out of here

I felt loved last night for the first time in a long time
It feels like I never went away
Like drifting back to sleep when I'm aching and I'm tired
Made me feel so much worse today

[Chorus]

I know I'd be welcome but tell me how far
Ceremonial knocks sound the gaps in my heart-beat
And I'll never be good enough for you or for me
I've buried my pride, I've buried my key

I felt loved last night for the first time in a long time
It feels like coming home to stay
Like falling in the sea when it's too hot in the sun
Made things so much worse today

I know you said you'll miss me
But I know that you won't
Because time is lie a wave, that washes the pain away
When you come down
I know I said I'll see you
When it gets to New Year
But now that all the rain stopped falling
All I think is getting out of here

I felt loved last night for the first time in a long time
It feels like I never went away
Like drifting back to sleep when I'm aching and I'm tired
Made me feel so much worse today

[Chorus]

I know I'd be welcome but tell me how far
Ceremonial knocks sound the gaps in my heart-beat
And I'll never be good enough for you or for me
I've buried my pride, I've buried my key (Repeats)

[Chorus]

General CommentThis song is about break-up of a couple that still love each other but understands their relationship is not working (i think the woman is the one to break up with him) and now, the man tries to get over it while trying to feel these familiar feelings that he felt with his former loved one.

the parts where he says "i felt loved last night... ...but made things so much worse again" are the parts where he possibly dated other woman and thought that he feels something but it wasn't, and only made him feel bad.

the part where he sings "i know you said you'll miss me.. ..cause time is a like a wave.." he realize that time makes us get over things in life and even if she says she'll miss him, he knows after a while she'll get over him.

the part where he sing "i know i said i'll see you when it get to new year...." he wanted to see her again sometime "but now that all the rain stopped falling" - he is over her and stopped crying about her. now he just wants to move on and not go back to those bad places he's been in.

the part of "i know i'de be welcome but tell me how far....i've buried my key" is a bit shady to me, but i see it as if they did meet up again and he feels his heart beating, he knows he still loves her, he knows she doesn't but he just wants to be with her and don't care about his pride. he thinks he's (or maybe he is) not good enough for her and thats it..

    amazing song. truly amazing..
btw, i was super stoned when i listened and thought about all the meaning of this song so maybe i got it all wrong but it had a huge impact on me so i had to write it down.

My InterpretationI believe it's that huge rush of falling in love with someone rather quickly and then the comedown of falling out of love. Perhaps he's speaking of his own experience. Maybe perhaps he still was in love with the girl but she'd fallen out of love with him and he's speaking of how he knew it would happen. The falling in love so quick and the rush, never lasts..it fizzles out, it's like when it rains ...when it rains hard it pours, but that doesn't last long, not that kind of rain. That fast, strong surge of falling in love, the worst feeling is when you come down from it. It's like a huge, painful love hangover...and this song is explaining what that feeling is like.

Song MeaningI think its about a couple who are together but aren't really in love, but they lie and tell each other that they do love each other.

They'd been away from each other for some time, and then they "come down" and realize they're not in love. But when they see each other again, they feel "love," but they're still pretending, and time feels like its going slow, and it's just a terrible feeling.

And it hurts him more because he's got nothing else, not even self-pride.

General CommentWhen I think about it from Charles perspective, I think it is about a girl he knows, they see each other time to time, when he gets home from touring and stuff.

They spent the night together, which felt great, but they both know as soon as he gets away from home, he will forget about her and vice versa. Even though he was looking forward to seeing her (to be home), as soon as he actually is with her, he wants to go back to his touring life.
(hence "I know I said I'll see you
When it gets to New Year
But now that all the rain stopped falling
All I think is getting out of here")

"I've buried my pride, I've buried my key"

He gave her back her apartment´s keys? But than "Ive buried my pride" doesnt make any sense.

My InterpretationTo me, this song screams suicide.

“I know you said you’ll miss me”

He has contemplated the idea of taking his life with someone he loves. He assures that even though she will be hurt that he is gone, she will get better in time: “time is like a wave, that washes the pain away”.

It shows throughout the song that he is depressed no matter what happens to him. Even though positive things happen to him like feeling love again or drifting to sleep when he’s tired, he still describes them as “made things so much worse today”.

“All I think is getting out of here” — Expressing his desire to commit suicide.

“And I’ll never be good enough for you or for me"

From this, I get that he is never satisfied with what he’s got, always with infinite wants so that it only ever leads to disappointment.
“Good enough for you” also suggests that he cannot get over an unrequited love with someone.

“I’ve buried my pride, I’ve buried my key.”
When someone commits suicide, it tends to be viewed as an act of selfishness and pride.
When someone commits suicide, they take all their hidden secrets with them — he buries the key to his secrets.

General CommentIn my opinion this screams suicide. And there is tonnes of proof in the lyrics!
"I know you said you'll miss me. But I know that you won't. Because time is like a wave, that washes the pain away." To me this means that, even though she will miss him and does love him, where he is so tied up being angry and annoyed with himself, he doesn't even realize it. He thinks that time will just take away the pain, the hurt of him being gone, but really she will die inside too because she loves him more than he knows. "I know I said I'll see you. When it gets to New Year. But now that all the rain stopped falling. All I think is getting out of here." He understands he promised to be there for her at New Year (maybe they had planned something?) but he can't keep that promise anymore, because he just wants to leave. He has had enough. He wants to commit suicide and he will probably do as planned :(

"I know I'd be welcome but tell me how far. Ceremonial knocks sound the gaps in my heart-beat." He is saying he knows that one day all of this pain will go away, but how far. Why is it taking so long? (the only way to resolve this is to commit suicide.) Death is merging into his heart and he is letting it.He is letting the will to live, die before his eyes. The part of the lyrics where he says "I'll never be good enough for you or for me," suggest that he is not satisfied with himself, and he knows that he is not good enough anymore. He doesn't deserve to live, or that is what he is telling himself. "I've buried my pride, I've buried my key," really suggests that he has no pride left and that is his fault. I've buried my key really implies that he will be burying all the secrets and lies with him when he commits suicide. He will be burying all the hatred for himself - he will be doing everyone a favor.

I hope this helped :) I think that my interpretation is nearly correct, but i don't really know? Thank you for reading!!

General CommentGot to be about drugs? Or more precisely the come down - I'm guessing cocaine?
The idea of the night before being loved and that europhic feeling of being on drugs but then today feeling worse and everything is still there although it had felt like it had been washed away

Ceremonial knocks sound the gaps in my heart-beat - The irregular heart beat caused by drugs

I've buried my key - Snorting drugs from a key?

I may be completely wrong but seems pretty obvious :)

    Good song anyway!

My InterpretationWell the band are known for their darker themes...

This song says Suicide to me; or possibly a break-up

"I know you said you'll miss me
But I know that you won't
Because time is lie a wave, that washes the pain away "
    - Talking about how the lover will get over the pain.

    "I know I said I'll see you
When it gets to New Year
But now that all the rain stopped falling
All I think is getting out of here "
-wanting to get away...maybe a suicide note

"And I'll never be good enough for you or for me
I've buried my pride, I've buried my key (Repeats)"
    -given up, burrying?
