"Strangers" as written by and Harry Mcveigh Charles Cave....
i pressed my ear to your chest and heard something personal
a whisper that knew my name
is this how your heart treats all strangers,
with love and affection?
then i feel cold and empty

i've got a sense of urgency
i've gotta make this happen
no stone unturned
i've got a sense of urgency
i've gotta make something happen
no stone unturned

i held your hand while you were sleeping
the whole night you gripped to mine
a grip that begged me to stay
is this how your limbs treat all strangers,
with love and affection?
then i feel weak and empty

I've got a sense of urgency
I've gotta make this happen
no stone unturned
I've got a sense of urgency
I've gotta make something happen
no stone unturned

strangers don't hide
the morning hunts you down
but there's nothing stranger than to love someone

i heard the water beat on your skin a shower of discipline
as heavy as iron
and i imagined the hand that gripped mine
now gripping the gaps in the tile
just holding on tight

I've got a sense of urgency
I've gotta make this happen
no stone unturned
I've got a sense of urgency
I've gotta make something happen
no stone unturned

strangers don't hide
the morning hunts you down
but there's nothing stranger than to love someone.

General CommentI think it's about a guy who falls in love with someone else and that someone else (let's say, a girl) says that does not feel the same way, and yet, her actions speak other way. Despite saying that she doesn't love him, that he is no stranger to her, once she treats him with "love and affection". It's about him making her see that she actually likes him back, because those actions are not the ones someone do when you don't love someone else, and he's searching, investigating, catching clues, with a "sense of emergency" leaving "no stone unturned" so that he can prove to her that she's lying to herself.

General CommentIt's about the most straightforward White Lies song ever: a one-night stand that left him cold and empty. At least they he stayed the night (even though it left him weak and empty).and waited for the morning shower.

    Brilliant song about the experience!

General Commentwow. I may be wrong but this is a fairly simple and straight forward White Lies song about falling in love.

Or is she dying in hospital..........

My InterpretationIt sounds to me like it's about a one night stand. Having the feeling that you really liked the girl and hoped for something more, but knowing that by the morning she wouldn't hold your hand or have any love for you in return.

General CommentQuite simple. Falling in love in a place when you're not supposed to, I take it to mean a one night stand. And what someone had a hard time understanding what the no stone unturned to mean, I interpret it to mean that he does indeed intend to ask her is there any chance to meet again? Can this work out...

General Commenti think this is a song that is more about a person who doesn't understand how another person could so easily fall in love with him. he is skeptical as much as he is in awe of it. i feel like he's looking at their position in this relationship of sorts (whether it's the intimacy of them waking up together or the seemingly routine comfort of her morning shower) from a position of hollowness. it seems he wants to feel the same things she seems to be feeling and showing, but he remains cold and empty in his heartm, and that it's largely because he's placed an elevation to what it means to love someone that he doubts she has truly arrived at with him. he's stressing to scrutinize every single thing about whether this real or not, leaving no stone unturned, but in the end i believe his cynicism persists... and he continues to keep his distance and sees her as a stranger.
