"Jackpot Plus!" as written by and James/barbot Robbins....
Sweet Dempsey waiting on a number,
Cups his sweating hand around dice and blows,
Breathes his reeking trust on tumbling bones,
In love with the air around a hundred thousand bad throws.

All nerve and no brain,
All nerve, no brain;
It’s jackpot plus in which he trusts. Someday I--
Someday I--

Sweet baby sucking on a number,
Sweet Dempsey gladly trips switch after switch.
He can feel himself drain out through his fingertips.
Uneasy union;
The conception of a near miss.

All nerve and no brain,
All nerve, no brain,
It’s jackpot plus in which he trusts.
Someday I--
Someday I--

Keep dropping it in cool on the machine,
Keep dropping it in,
Dropping it in,
Dropping it in,
Someday I--
Someday I--
Someday I--

    Song MeaningThis song is about gambling addiction. I don’t think “Dempsey” is in reference to anything (that I could find), but he’s definitely addicted to gambling. It’s “all nerve and no brain” (so, seemingly automatic), he’s already had “a hundred thousand bad throws”, and yet he keeps “dropping it in.” I think the “Someday I” is coming from him. It could either be “someday I will win it all”, or “someday I will stop.” But the sentence is cut off, because neither of those possibilities are true; he’ll never stop and he’ll never win.
