I had my heart broken
It was broken in two
And if I had my heart broken
I bet it was broken by you.

I wrote you a letter
But I didn't have a stamp
Threw it in the garbage can
Address the tram.

And I lost my heart
I lost my heart

I had my heart broken
It was broken in two
And if I had my heart broken
I bet it was broken by you.

I went to your wedding
When I fumed off there
Said "Is something wrong?"
Now I'm in jail.

And I lost my heart
I lost my heart

I love all the people
Most of all I love you
I love all the people
Most of all I love you

I love all the people
Most of all I love you
I love all the people
Most of all I love you

But I don't know how you can be so dumb

I had my heart broken
It was broken in two
I had my heart broken
It was broken in two

And I'm glad
I'm glad
About you.

General CommentIf I had my heart broken
*I'm glad* it was broken by you

    I went to your wedding
    *Wearing a funeral veil
    Said something wrong*
    Now I'm in jail

General CommentThis song is very fitting for Valentines Day for those of us with broken hearts...I don't want to whine and moan about my heartache but I wish I could see the girl who broke mine and scream the line "But I don't know how you can be so dumb!"...probably one of my favorite lines ever...I don't think she ever realized how much she meant to me.

There's also an acoustic version on youtube which is pretty cool.

General Commenti hear it like this:

    I wrote you a letter,
    But I didn't have a stamp.
Threw it in the garbage can,
    Addressed: "The Tramp".

as in he addressed her name on the envelope as "The Tramp".
