You're not alone
I'm with you
I'm lonely too
What's that song
Can't be sung
By two?
A broken home
A broken heart
Isolated and afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
You're not alone
Every night
I stand in your place
Every tear
On every face
Tastes the same
A broken dream
A broken heart
Isolated and afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
An open hand
An open heart
There's no need to be afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
I'm gonna get it through to you
You're not alone
I'm with you
I'm lonely too
What's that song
Can't be sung
By two?
A broken home
A broken heart
Isolated and afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
You're not alone
Every night
I stand in your place
Every tear
On every face
Tastes the same
A broken dream
A broken heart
Isolated and afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
An open hand
An open heart
There's no need to be afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
I wanna get it through to you
You're not alone
I'm gonna get it through to you
You're not alone

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. on the meaning of life. "We are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is." I think that is what this song is about. And why has no one commented on this song. When an angel sings we should listen.
That's what we should do, lift each other and also confess our own struggles. We're all in this together and with each other's strength, we pull one another. Beautiful lyrics!
This song, the lyrics, are so relatable .I believe that the songwriter had to experience great pain in his life , in his mind . The battle within. I believe he was able to connect spiritually directly to God to be able to touch others this way. I know this pain and being isolated, I needed to hear that I'm not alone , even though it feels like it every minute of every day .
