As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I wear my crown of thorns and pull the knife out my chest
I keep searching for something that I never seem to find
But maybe I won't, because I left it all behind
Now I'm stuck with this, and that'll never change
Always a part of me, until the very last day
Where to go from here? What road to travel on?
I spent my whole life choosing, and it always chose wrong
Will I try to have the will to be alive?
Will I try because I've never seen the light?
Blow it to the ground and it's now you see
You spent your whole life taking the best of me

Where'd you go?
Where's your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?
There's no light, there's no sound
Hard to breathe, when you're underground
Can you hear me now?
Hear me now

How long can I keep pretending to be?
That all the stars in the sky could mean something to me
Heaven will open up if I live on my knees
A man of many words, but a man of few deeds
Walking these streets, so absent of hope
A pillow of concrete, a man with no home
Lend him a hand, then we're walking the way
Leave the virtue of pity, but we live with the shame
So scared to dream in a world with no sunlight
When you wake up, you know it's darker than last night
Quickly we forget, sacrifice gone by
Born to walk away, been walking my whole life

Where'd you go?
Where's your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?
There's no light, there's no sound
Hard to breathe, when you're underground
Can you hear me now?
Hear me now

Look into my eyes and I see
What do I see?
Nothing at all (nothing at all)
Take another look around me
What do I see?
Nothing at all

Where'd you go?
Where's your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?
There's no light, there's no sound
Hard to breathe, when you're underground
Can you hear me now?
Hear me now

Can you hear me?
Hear me now

    My Interpretation

I'm going to write my interpretation considering what's going on in my life right now.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, (every day feels lifeless) I wear my crown of thorns and pull the knife out my chest.(being bullied and backstabbed) I keep searching for something that I never seem to find.(hope) But maybe I won't, because I left it all behind.(gave up) Now I'm stuck with this, and that'll never change(made mistakes) Always a part of me, until the very last day.(my mistakes shaped me) Where to go from here? What road to travel on?(what do i do with my life) I spent my whole life choosing, and I always chose wrong(made mistakes( Will I try to have the will to be alive?(should i end it?) Will I try because I've never seen the light?(all happiness has been taken from me) Blow it to the ground and it's now you see,(you won't realize what you've done when if i kill myself) You spent your whole life taking the best of me(they always bullied me)

Where'd you go?(i lost my hope) Where's your home?(where's the love and kindness) How'd you end up all alone?(all my friends are leaving me and hate me) Can you hear me now?(killing myself) There's no light, there's no sound.(happiness and hope has left me) Hard to breathe, when you're underground.(being buried in sorrow) Can you hear me now?(killing myself) Hear me now

How long can I keep pretending to be?(wearing a mask of happiness/pretending to be happy) That all the stars in the sky could mean something to me.(nothing matters to me anymore, i don't matter) Heaven will open up if I live on my knees.(God's supposed to help me if i pray) A man of many words, but a man of few deeds.(i cry for help but never take action) Walking these streets, so absent of hope.(hopeless) A pillow of concrete, a man with no home. Lend him a hand, then we're walking the way. Leave the virtue of pity, but we live with the shame. So scared to dream in a world with no sunlight.(i can't imagine a better world because all hope and emotion has been taken from me) When you wake up, you know it's darker than last night.(every day is worse and worse) Quickly we forget, sacrifice gone by. Born to walk away, been walking my whole life.

Look into my eyes and I see What do I see? Nothing at all(lifeless and emotionless) Take another look around me What do I see? Nothing at all(no hope)

Can you hear me?(killing myself) Hear me now

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
