"We've Got a Situation Here" as written by Robert Caggiano, Keith Buckley, Joseph Trohman, Andrew Hurley and Scott Rosenfeld....
I've been waiting patiently for the crowd to gather in
To read off my demands on the news this evening
I have not asked for much
But I want what I can't afford
Just to find myself a mess
At the steps to her door
At the steps to her door
At the steps to her door

This situation is out of my hands
I am the crossbearer in the crosshairs
Come in and get me
This situation is out of my hands
I got a new prayer for a new plan
Come in and get me

I'm making all this up
As the eyes follow along
No lines between the dots
It's the right time going wrong
We wanted something more
Than we could ever regret
And I don't ever learn
But I know I forget
I know I forget
I know I forget

This situation is out of my hands
I am the crossbearer in the crosshairs
Come in and get me
This situation is out of my hands
I got a new prayer for a new plan
Come in and get me

Didn't the dogs get the scent
Do you kids get the sense
I've come undone
Didn't the dogs get the scent
Do you kids get the sense
I've come undone

With all the love in the world
We're still one foot in the grave
For the love of god, put your sights on my heart
When all the eyes are upon me
I'm sure I'll freeze to the spot
For the love of god, put your sights on my heart

When it comes for us
Like I know it will
When it comes it takes us in its arms

This situation is out of my hands
I am the crossbearer in the crosshairs
Come in and get me
This situation is out of my hands
I got a new prayer for a new plan
Come in and get me
This situation is out of my hands
I am the crossbearer in the crosshairs
Come in and get me
Come in and get me
Come in and get me

Didn't the dogs get the scent
Do you kids get the sense
I've come undone
Didn't the dogs get the scent
Do you kids get the sense
I've come undone

General CommentI'm fairly sure the first question mark is "On the news this evening"

and it sounds like "On the steps to her door"

Good job, regardless. Can't wait for the album!!!!

General CommentPerfec7's right about the first question mark, it's "on the news this evening," and it sounds like "her door" to me too.
The second question mark is "As the eyes follow along"
Third is "Than we could ever regret"
The one after "Didn't the dogs get the scent?" is "Do you kids get the sense?"
And the rest is right on.

I think the song's basically a reflection of the way society is, how twisted we all are. The verses serve as examples, and the chorus is his reaction: "The situation is out of my hands/I got a new prayer for a new plan."

General CommentThanks people. Seems about right now.
Anyway as for the song's actual meaning, I recall reading an interview somewhere with Keith in which he discussed some of the band's lyrics. As far as I remember this song's just about...a difficult situation he found himself in one time. I don't really remember specifics, and unfortunately can't seem to find it again, but the lyrics are more introspective and personal than they first seem. Looking at them again now they do seem much more specific, like they had been tailored to describing a situation rather than discussing a broader subject matter. And obviously that fits better with the title.
Well that's pretty much all I've got to contribute.
