General CommentThis song is about Christmas... Jesus was believed to have died in the year 33 AD and most scholars assume this means that he mathematically must have been 33 years old at the time of his death; however, what they don't take into account was that chronologically there was no "year 0" - it jumps from year 1 BC - to year 1 AD (Anno Domini - "the year of our lord") so this must mean that Jesus was in fact 32 years old when he died...

    10 + 22 = 32
    20 + 12 = 32
    30 + 2 = 32

... otherwise, by traditional calculations he would have had to already been 1 year old at the time of his birth - which obviously doesn't make sense - so this song is about that missing year of Jesus' life that history has forgotten. When he came out his momma he was zero.

    Now everybody knows.

My InterpretationI agree with you DKVille, but I think there's more to it than just that. I think that, by bringing the misinterpretation of Jesus' age into light, Sage Francis is reflecting his own views on Christianity. He discusses the ridiculous idea of going to war over it, the amount of money invested into the church which in turn helps fund such wars, and hid own experiences of the church, where they have attempted to instil guilt in those who do not follow God.

It also discusses the difficult time he had with the church, "unlocking the hell in him".

Pretty awesome song, very well put together and mentions a number of hard-hitting notions in a very whimsical fashion.
