I lay in a bed of resistance
Chained to either side
I really wish I could reset, rewind
Someone has clawed out my eyes
Can't identify
I really wish I could reset, rewind
You know it's never the way we planned it
I really wish we could reset, rewind

I'm planning a revolution inside my head
I'm planning a revolution when I break free
I call for annihilation
Describe the sunlight so I can feel it's burn
If only I could get up off this bed

I don't know what they told you, but this place is not what you think
Reset, rewind

Living inside a hole, they put me underground
Where they can never find me unless they dig me out

I search for the answers 'cause this is the end
I search for the answers

"God, it's caving in on me
I feel them watching
But no one seems to care anymore
I'm digging my way out
Cause when I'm breathing there is no release"

I can't believe this
I can't believe this
My mind is starting to turn on me

I've been living inside a hole, they put me underground
Where they can never unless they dig me out
I've been living inside a hole
Where they can never find me unless they dig me out

Lyric CorrectionChanges a few of the lyrics, there's still one or two things I couldn't make out though.

I'm needing a better resistance (assistance?) shading either side,
I really wish I could reset, rewind.
Someone has clawed out my eyes, can't identify,
I really wish I could reset, rewind.
You know it's never the way we planned it,
I really wish we could reset, rewind.

I'm planning a revolution inside my head,
I'm planning a revolution when I break free.
    I call for annihilation,
Describe the sunlight so I can feel it's burn,
If only I could get up off this bed.

I don't know what they told you,
But this place is not what you see,
    Reset, rewind.

Living inside a hole, they put me underground,
Where they can never find me unless they dig me out.

They search for the answers 'cause this is the end,
    They search for the answers.

God, it's caving in on me, I feel him watching,
But no one seems to care anymore.
Empty, I dig my way out,
'cause when I breathe in, there's no release.

    I can't believe this, I can't believe this,
My mind is starting to turn on me.

I've been living inside a hole, they put me underground,
Where they can never find me unless they dig me out.
I've been living inside a hole,
Where they can never find me unless they dig me out.

Lyric CorrectionThe first two lines of lyrics are not

    "I'm needing a better resistance
    Shading either side"

The correct lyrics (from the albums lyrics book) are:

"I lay in a bed of resistance
    Chained to either side"

These are confirmed lyrics, right from Underoath's iTunes LP and the CD's booklet.

General CommentStraight from the lyrics booklet, there are a few changes
"I don't know what they told you, but this place is not what you think"

"God, it's caving in on me
    I feel them watching
But no one seems to care anymore
    I'm digging my way out
Cause when I'm breathing there is no release"

Song ComparisonSo, just a theory here, and please reply if you think I'm way off base, but here's what I think:

Ø (Disambiguation) starts with this song called "In Division", then later there's a song called "In Completion." The similarity of the names made me think that the two were connected, "In Division" describing the first half of a story and "In Completion" describing its resolution. On the "In Completion" lyrics page, kalvar commented his/her interpretation of the song--two people are trying to get away from something (maybe drugs?) in their lives; they're one another's accountability partners, but neither can stay out, so they end up dragging each other down. Going on that...

"I lay in a bed of resistance
    Chained to either side
I really wish I could reset, rewind
Someone has clawed out my eyes
    Can't identify"

He's in too deep in Something he now regrets but can't break free of. "Someone has clawed out my eyes" could mean several things. The people who dragged him into the Something are trying to keep him helpless? The Something has ruined his judgment? The Something has forced him to lose sight of what was once important to him? I don't know.

"I really wish I could reset, rewind
You know it's never the way we planned it
I really wish we could reset, rewind

I'm planning a revolution inside my head
I'm planning a revolution when I break free
    I call for annihilation."

He goes from talking to himself about his regrets to talking to someone else who is in his same situation, the same person he's talking to in "In Completion." He tells this person his plan to revolt against the Something and the people who dragged him into it, and to overcome it all.

"Describe the sunlight so I can feel its burn,
If only I could get up off this bed."

Usually light means hope, so he's asking his friend to help him keep hope, but here he looks forward to the light. In "In Completion," light is fading and night is falling as he and his friend fall back into the Something.

"I don't know what they told you, but this place is not what you think
    Reset, rewind"

He's convincing his friend to join the revolution with him. Assuming I'm right about the songs being about drugs, "they" are either dealers or the friends who pulled him and his friend into drugs.

"Living inside a hole, they put me underground,
Where they can never find me unless they dig me out."

This is my favourite lyric in the song. I think it's a realization. Literally, he goes from being chained to a bed to being buried underground. He's always known he was trapped--something's not right with the way he's living his life and he can't break free--but now he understands he's been buried alive by the people who encourage his addiction. If they're dealers, they want him to stay under for the money. If they're friends, they want him to stay under so they can feel better about doing drugs (or staying involved in whatever Something).

"I search for the answers 'cause this is the end,
    I search for the answers.

God, it's caving in on me, I feel them watching,
But no one seems to care anymore.
    I'm digging my way out,
'Cause when I'm breathing, there is no release.

    I can't believe this, I can't believe this,
My mind is starting to turn on me."

He's no longer just planning a revolution; he's enacting his plan. He breaks free of the hole, and now that "they" see they've lost control of him, they no longer try to keep him buried.

So that's my take on it. If anyone has heard Spencer talk about this song, or helped write it, please comment!
