Hot and dangerous
If you're one of us, then roll with us
'Cause we make the hipsters fall in love
When we've got our hot pants on and up
And yes of course we does
We running this town just like a club
And no, you don't wanna mess with us
Got Jesus on my necklace-ace-ace

I've got that glitter on my eyes
Stockings ripped all up the side
Looking sick and sexified
So let's go-o-o (let's go)

Tonight we're going har-har-har-ha-ha-hard
Just like the world is our-our-our-our-our-ours
We're tearin' it apart-part-part-pa-pa-part
You know we're superstars, we are who we are
We're dancing like we're dumb-dumb-dumb-du-du-dumb
Our bodies goin' numb-numb-numb-nu-nu-numb
We'll be forever young-young-you-you-you-young
You know we're superstars, we are who we are

DJ turn it up
It's about damn time to live it up
I'm so sick of being so serious
It's making my brain delirious
I'm just talkin' truth
I'm telling you 'bout the shit we do
We're sellin' our clothes, sleepin' in cars
Dressin' it down, hittin' on dudes (hard)

Got that glitter on my eyes
Stockings ripped all up the side
Looking sick and sexified
So let's go-o-o (let's go)

Tonight we're going har-har-har-ha-ha-hard
Just like the world is our-our-our-our-our-ours
We're tearin' it apart-part-part-pa-pa-part
You know we're superstars, we are who we are
We're dancing like we're dumb-dumb-dumb-du-du-dumb
Our bodies goin' numb-numb-numb-nu-nu-numb
We'll be forever young-young-you-you-you-young
You know we're superstars, we are who we are

DJ, turn it up-up-up-up-up-up-up
DJ, turn it up-up-up-up-up-up-up
(DJ, turn it up-up-up-up-up-up-up)
DJ, turn it up-up-up-up-up-up-up-up

Tonight we're going har-har-har-ha-ha-hard
Just like the world is our-our-our-our-our-ours

I know a lot of people who don't like Kesha. But if you like her or hate her she is supporting all the teenages that are gay and get bullied for it everyday, shes telling them to only be themselves. shes a fantastic roll model

Kesha wrote this song in response to the increasing spike of teen suicides especially about LGBT youth. Overall, this song aims to say teenagers should be proud of themselves for who they are.

First Verse: The poem explicitly begins with saying teen suicide is really a "hot and dangerous" issue. "If you're one of us, then roll with us" implies that not every teenager is alone and that they should unite. Distinguishing feeling of "us" implies there is a group of people who are different from normal society. "We make hipsters fall in love" Hipsters is a symbol of independence, individuality. not conforming to norm, and being one with nature. To make them "fall in love" is to mean we make them proud and inspired. Homosexuality is not a choice, we are born with this gift from nature, and we are making them proud connecting to themselves of their true nature. "And we've got hotpants on enough" Pride in their creative qualities and fashion tastes. "And yes of course because we're running this town just like a club" {araphrase: we are going to party in this normal society and enjoy our lives. The act of "running this town" suggests they are going to influence or change the normal society thinks. "And no, you don't wanna mess with us" Paraphrase: Society and the norm is not going to push us around anymore. "Got Jesus on my necklace" Being able to accept their true natures bring them closer to faith and God. Or being it a blasphemous act suggests we shouldn't give a toss what religion says.

And pretty much the rest of the song focuses on partying hard.

Repetition of "You know we're superstars, We are who we are!" means they are going to party hard, enjoy life, be proud and feel special, because they know their true selves.

    My Interpretation

It's being proud of who we are as a person as a member of the teen LGBT community I really take this song to heart. It makes me feel proud!

It's simply about being who you are and not care about anyone who hate and party hard being who you are.

    My Opinion

Alright, alright. Pop princess may have said those were what her words meant, but think about it. Why would she want the media to know she's doing shit she's not supposed to be doing. Think of it a little like this.

Line one: Hot and dangerous When rolling on ecstasy you get really hot due to the increase in body temperature. Dangerous = the drug. Line two: If you're one of us, then roll with us Term when tripping on ecstasy is called "rolling" Line three: Cause we make the hipsters fall in love When rolling on ecstasy you get the extreme desire to love everyone and anyone. You just want to feel loved. Line four: And we've got hot pants on enough, And yes of course because we're running this town just like a club Raves AREN'T CLUBS! Clubs are legal, raves get raided out. Line five: And no, you don't wanna mess with us, Got Jesus on my necklace You don't mess with people on drugs. They just might slip you something. Line six: I've got that glitter on my eyes Stockings ripped all up the side Looking sick and sexy-fied So let's go-o-o (Let's go!) All about dressing up obviously. When raving you usually wear your sluttiest apparel. And the glitter flashy colors just make you all that much more cool. Line seven: Tonight we're going hard Best way to party so you're doing it hard style Line eight: Just like the world is ours We're tearin' it apart You know we're superstars We are who we are! This is all about feeling confident about yourself. When you're rolling you think you are the baddest shit that's ever happened to the world. Line nine: We're dancing like we're dumb You may think you're hot shit, but the way you dance ain't that pretty and you look retarded from a sober's eyes. Line ten: Our bodies go numb Side-effect of ecstasy Line eleven: We'll be forever young You know we're superstars We are who we are! Usually only younger generations do this drug, and you dance like you've never danced before. You're on your feet for hours and you're wondering where it's all coming from. Line twelve: DJ turn it up It's about damn time to live it up I'm so sick of being so serious It's making my brain delirious! One, at least twenty different DJ's tearing up raves. Rolling on ecstasy you feel better then you've ever felt before. You don't care you're there to have a good time. You don't even care about if you loose your possessions. Just as long as you're having fun. Line thirteen: I'm just talkin' truth I'm telling you about the shit we do As well as most drugs, you're more likely to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing, but the truth. Line fourteen: We're sellin' our clothes, sleepin' in cars Dressin' it down, hittin' on dudes (HARD!) Like I said you just don't care, and the rest of the song I already explained. Trust me, I love Kesha. I have absolutely nothing against her. That's just how I see the song. If you don't like it, well I don't care. However, it does make sense and you can't even disagree about that.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
