"New Years Eve" as written by Brian Mcternan, James Buddy Nielsen, Daniel Gerard Trapp, Garrett Michael Zablocki and Jason Black....
Clip my angel wings
I'm a coward
I'm a liar and a cheat
My vows all mean nothing
I'm weaker than a priest

Board up the windows and lock all the doors
Like a hurricane I'm always given a new name
Board up the windows and lock all the doors
Head for the hills
Get somewhere safe
The further you go the better off you'll be

I'm clear as glass but I can't seem to ever clean
The fingerprints you left on me
I wish every night was new years
So this Irish disease could have company

Who the fuck would want to live forever
When everyday feels like it's been a week
Call on the archers and let down the gate
Hell must be a view of watching everyone you knew
Move on without you like you never lived
I'm just like my father
As lonely as sin
Drinking away
What I've been given

I'm clear as glass by I can't seem to ever clean
The fingerprints you left on me
I wish every night was new years
So this Irish disease could have company

I hate myself for never saying that I want you in my life
But it's not my place to keep on trying to chase a relationship that's not there
But if I don't then I know that you won't even dare

I'm clear as glass but I can't seem to ever clean
The fingerprints you left on me
I wish every night was new years
So this Irish disease could have company

General CommentFirst off, in the chorus it's "Irish disease", not "Irish curse"

Anyway, the chorus says a lot.

"I'm clear as glass but I can't ever seem to clean
The fingerprints you left on me
I wish every night was New Years Eve
So this Irish disease could have company"

It's about trying to escape the negative effect his father left on him but he doesn't think he can. Also it is about his alcoholism, and the loneliness it makes him feel sometimes hence he "wishes every night was New Years Eve so this Irish disease (alcoholism) could have company." So he's saying if every night was NYE he wouldn't be drinking alone and other people would join him.

"I hate myself for never saying that i want you in my life
But it's not my place to keep on trying to chase a relationship that's not there
But if I don't then I know that you won't even dare"

He is trying to reach out to his father because he never did, but he feels like it probably wouldn't matter anyway.

General CommentNot totally sure what this is all about, some of it is about alcoholism though. It also hints at not asking someone out.

My favorite song off the new album, and probably from all of them. They really outdone themselves this time.

General CommentSome of the lyrics are wrong, like the chorus. It's "I'm clear as glass but I can't seem to ever clean", and "Irish disease", not "Irish curse"

General CommentI agree that this song could be about his dad, saying that his father is living in hell cause he watches all his family and friends move on and try and forget about him. Also it makes sense that Buddy is upset he didn't tell his dad he wanted him in his life. However I don't understand the chorus very much

General CommentThis song is so powerful. I think it might be about Buddy trying not to become like his father. Also who the fuck writes these lyrics. Almost every song off the new album has incorrect lyrics on here. Senses Fail. <33

General Comment"I'm clear as glass and I can't seem to ever clean, the fingerprints you left on me," is a really powerful saying, in my opinion. Everybody leaves fingerprints on glass, theoretically and figuratively. Everyone leaves an imprint on another person and I think that is what they are trying to say, but more poetic. If your song doesn't leave people thinking, then you probably didn't do that good of a job writing it, and Senses Fail has always left me pondering and translating their lyrics in my own way.
