"Visions" as written by and Matthew Stephen Nicholls Jona Weinhofen....
This is a Call to arms, So grab your guns and get your horses
Only the dead have seen the end of this fight.
This is a Call to arms, so all you fallen soldiers sing with me,
Death or Glory

So march with me if you believe there's any hope for us.
I've been hiding in these trenches for far too long.
All is fair in war or so they tell me
All is fair in war or so they say
Come on, come on, there has to be a better way.
Get up, get up, let's leave this mess.
I know a place that we can get away from all of this.
Come on come on, get up, get up
I've been dreaming of us leaving everything and everyone we've ever known.
I've been thinking all these visions must be a sign, so hold on and don't let go.

No, we can't leave 'til you tell me everything.
So come clean, don't talk in tongues.
It's time to bring out your dead.
And all the skeletons that you've been hiding.
Tell me everything I need to know.
Bring out your dead, bring out your dead

So march with me if you believe there's any hope for us.
I've been hiding in these trenches for far too long.
All is fair in war or so they tell me
All is fair in war or so they say
Come on come on, get up, get up
I know a place that we can get away from all of this, yeah

I couldn't see a thing 'til I shut my eyes.
I never knew a thing 'til I lost my mind.
I would sell my soul to know it all, But I held the keys all this time

I couldn't see a thing 'til I shut my eyes.
I never knew a thing 'til I lost my mind.
I would sell my soul to know it all, But I held the keys all this time

I've been dreaming of us leaving everything and everyone we've ever known
I've been thinking all these visions must be a sign, so hold on and don't let go
I've been dreaming of us leaving everything and everyone we've ever known
I've been thinking all these visions must be a sign, so hold on and don't let go

Bring out your dead
Bring out your dead
Bring out your dead

Song MeaningI know a place where we can get away from all of this.
I've been dreaming of us leaving everything and everyone we've ever known.
I've been thinking all these visions must be a sign, so hold on and don't let go

I believe the plave they are talking about is heaven, and this song is basically to hold on, theres a better place out there so take life for what it is and try to make the best of it because " Only the dead have seen the end of this fight". We dont have all the answers but we must have hope.

"So march with me if you believe there's any hope for us."

My InterpretationI think this song is about life, and how to live life properly... you have to be truthful, to yourself and your loved ones. You have to live life with vigour and honesty.

"This is a call to arms, so grab your guns and get your horses.
Only the dead have seen the end of this fight.
This is a call to arms, so all you fallen soldiers sing with me:
    Death or glory?"

These lines, I believe, attest to the idea of living life thoroughly. The lines advise that you don't sit around and let life roll by: 'grab your guns and get your horses' and live life!

"No, we can't leave until you tell me everything.
So come clean, don't talk in tongues.
It's time to bring out your dead.
And the skeletons that you've been hiding.
Tell me everything I need to know."

This may be directed generally, at society, or to a loved one. The message that I think is being conveyed, is one of honesty. How lies are temporary and unhelpful, the only way to live happily is to 'bring out your dead and the skeletons that you've been hiding'.

Another angle that this song could be looked at from, is one looking into a intimate relationship.

"I've been hiding in these trenches for far too long."

This line could have one of two different meanings:

1- A guy/girl is confessing their affection for the other and are coming out of their 'trenches'.
2- In a relationship, one of the partners is revealing a detail about themselves that their partner never knew.

I could go on, but i'll stop... for now :D

Love this album, every second is imbued with intense emotion.

General CommentTo me the song is about loving someone and wanted them forever. The to lovers are fighting everything to be together.

This is a call to arms, so grab your guns and get your horses.
Only the dead have seen the end of this fight.
This is a call to arms, so all you fallen soldiers sing with me:
    Death or glory?
So march with me if you believe there's any hope for us.

these lines are about the guy talking to others who are in the same position as him and his girl. He's asking them to help since they know how he feels.

I've been hiding in these trenches for far too long.
All is fair in love and war, so they tell me.
All is fair in love and war, so they say.

He has to tel her something that he's been hiding. Maybe his lov for her, or a secret harmful addiction(cutting, drugs, achohol), but he knows everything will be fair and whatever happens, happens.

Come on, come on, there has to be a better way.
Get up, get up, let's leave this mess.
I know a place where we can get away from all of this.

He's telling her, 'come on, lets go and leaving every bad thing behind'. he knows that somewhere in this world they can be together without all the judgement.

I've been dreaming of us leaving everything and everyone we've ever known.
I've been thinking all these visions must be a sign, so hold on and don't let go.

He thinks about taking the girl away so they can be together, leaving behind everything that causes their pain, and he's visions are making him think thats what he's suppose to do.

No, we can't leave until you tell me everything.
So come clean, don't talk in tongues.
It's time to bring out your dead.
And the skeletons that you've been hiding.
Tell me everything I need to know.
    Bring out your dead.

They both want to leave, but she's hiding something and he needs/wants to know what it is, so they can't go till she comes clean of her secret.

I couldn't see a thing until I shut my eyes.
I never knew a thing until I lost my mind.
I would sell my soul to know it all, but I held the keys all this time.

this is referring to love. Everyone says that when they're in love they can't stop thinking about they're lover. He couldn't see till his eyes we're closed, meanings he coulnd t stop seeing her face. He lost his mind in thinking about love. He would give her everything -his soul- to knows whats wrong, but he knows that he has the key to finding it out and helping her.

I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know the meaning of this song. I could be wrong about the meaning, but this my way of thinking about it. I can relate to it becuase right now I'm in love with a guy who my parents don't know and don't like. Whenever I feel down and he will do anything to know what it is. I use to be (still am) a cutter and I do my best to stop. I can relate to some of these lines through that. my boyfriend trying to find out where I did it and my parents judgeing our love. this song is my escape.

My InterpretationWhen I think about it this song seems to be about the first world war and a soldier in it.

This is a call to arms, so grab your guns and get your horses.
Only the dead have seen the end of this fight.
This is a call to arms, so all you fallen soldiers sing with me:
    Death or glory?
So march with me if you believe there's any hope for us.

This part is about joining the war and that the war will never end.

I've been hiding in these trenches for far too long.
All is fair in love and war, so they tell me.
All is fair in love and war, so they say.

Here he talks about trenches and how he been there for too long. That makes me think of the west front that was just soldiers in trenches and much much death. The next lines there makes me think he has a girlfriend/ wife home and he fights for her safety but he see so much terrible things and starts to wonder if it is fair and worth it.

Come on, come on, there has to be a better way.
Get up, get up, let's leave this mess.
I know a place where we can get away from all of this.
I've been dreaming of us leaving everything and everyone we've ever known.
I've been thinking all these visions must be a sign, so hold on and don't let go.

He believes that this war is not worth fighting and wants to get away with his girlfriend/wife. It sounds like he wants to get really far away from where they are, away from all people they have known and away from the war.

No, we can't leave until you tell me everything.
So come clean, don't talk in tongues.
It's time to bring out your dead.
And the skeletons that you've been hiding.
Tell me everything I need to know.
    Bring out your dead.

But there is some trouble between them and he or she wont leave until the problem between them is solved.

I couldn't see a thing until I shut my eyes.
I never knew a thing until I lost my mind.
I would sell my soul to know it all, but I held the keys all this time.
    Bring out your dead.

someone above here said that this part is about love and I think that person is right. It is like one of them telling the other their love for them and the bring out your dead is like asking what the problem is
