Run, whirlwind run
Further and further away
Into the sun
In, 20 minutes
Everyone will remember you when you're gone
And your heart, is a stone
Buried underneath your pretty clothes
Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?

What will you do when something stops you?
What will you say to the world?
What will you be when it all comes crashing
Down on you little girl?
What would you do if you lost your beauty?
How would you deal with the light?
How would you feel if nobody chased you?
What if it happened tonight?

How would you cope it the world decided to
Make you suffer for all that you were?
How could you dance if no-one was watching
And you couldn't even care if they were?
What would you do if you couldn't even feel?
Not even pitiful pain
How would you deal if the indecision
Eating away at the days?

Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?
About girls like you
About girl like you
Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?
About girls like you
About girl like you

Everything you say is higher
All the things that make you lighter
Everything you say is higher
See it in the grey you crier

Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?
About girls like you
About girl like you
Everything you say is higher
All the things that make you lighter
Everything you say is higher
See it in the grey you crier

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about seeing past the facade of a girl. She's that beautiful party girl that everyone likes but deep down she is very lost and she bases her entire opinion of herself on how others perceive her. She lives a fast paced lifestyle and I think the song questions what will happen when she runs out of gas, because she has built such a fragile and shallow foundation for herself. I think that the song asking about what is underneath it all, and whether or not there is anything underneath it or if it's been eaten away by her shallow values. Maybe it's criticizing this girl who has lost herself in the hunger to be desired. Or maybe it's about this shallow bitch that has it easy.

This song is about that narcissistic but hot bitch we all know and hate but would probably bone.

Corrections, from the official lyric book:

*How could you dance if no one was watching And you couldn't even get off the floor?

*How would you deal with the empty decisions

*Everything you say is fire All the claims you lay you liar

    My Interpretation

From when I first heard this song, it sounded like it was about a girl who is depressed, not a bully. Like someone who is pretty (or perhaps tries to be, but doesn't completely believe it herself) but has a hard time coping and relating to others, and her heart is stone because she can't open up to anyone. But at the same time she's afraid of being completely alone, of no one loving her (losing her beauty, not being chased), so she hides underneath pretty clothes because she needs to feel wanted. She's called a liar and a crier, so it seems like she tries to convey an image she doesn't really feel, and cries because she can't deal. In 20 minutes when she's gone, suffering for what she is, inability to get off the floor, and not being able to feel even pain anymore, all sounds like someone very depressed and potentially suicidal.

Maybe it's the vocalist or the tune, but it sounds almost sympathetic to me, like that the singer knows she's got issues and sadness, and that she needs to deal with them before they get worse.

"Don't you know people write songs about you" is not a compliment here. These are songs about that "cold-hearted, shallow girl" that's never happy.

This is about a girl who is superficial, dances for the "people watching" her.....she is all about getting attention, but there is not much inside.

She is being asked how would you live if you lost what gets you this attention: what if you lost your looks. And clearly, if she lost her looks, her superficial world would come crashing down: no attention, no guys chasing her, no guys watching her dance.....She cannot stand hearing the truths and calls him a liar and the words are just mean't to hurt, she is denying it all

    My Opinion

To me this is about a hot girl. How there are some girls that just toy with guys and they know they are hot shit and use that against people because they can. Guys still go after them because they are hot. In this song he kind of says that if you weren't got no one would give you half a thought. You wouldn't be able to get away with treating people like shit and people would see you as a shitty person. "And your heart is a stone, buried underneath your pretty clothes" is talking about how under your attractiveness you are just a bitch "What would you do if you lost your beauty? How would you deal with the light? How would you feel if nobody chased you?" Is saying how without this beauty you arn't a great person. People are drawn to beautiful people and guys like attractive girls and if you're mean they put up with it because they are pretty etc. but if they didn't have that beauty they'd just be mean and no one would waste another second on them. They are so used to all this attention and people chasing after them and not having to get to start conversations and relationships because people always start things with them because that's just how the world is, it values beauty. "How would you cope if the world decided to make you suffer for all that you were" is kind of saying if you were suddenly unattractive and no one noticed you or craved you would you be able to stand it? Could you survive living like the rest of us and not having tons of people chasing after you and actually having to be nice. How would you deal with being treated like a shitty person and no one liking you because you are so rude. Because now you don't have your beauty to distract everyone

    My Interpretation

My interpretation seems to be different to a lot of the other commenters. This probably becomes because it's somewhat reminds me of my own experience (although I'm a guy). Basically, someone who I liked a lot went to 3rd with another person while drunk at a party. I'd been trying to stop this happening, but when it happened, I'd lost all hope, so I walked home by myself at 3am in the morning, hopeless. I see this song more sympathetic and highlighting the girl's plight.

The first few lines is more about the girl running off into the darkness, after having her dreams crushed by someone she knows will never love her back and her "heart, [has become] a stone."

The second part is the part where she's asking herself questions. She'd never thought that this would ever happen, and when it's happened before, she's surrounded herself in a fake world and tried to ignore it. Now she's faced hard cold reality, she feels like she's lost, and that since nobody chased her, nobody cares about her.

The third part is culmination of the first two sections, knowing that everybody knows that you're going to hurt inside because of this, but because it's 'hit news' and it's a drunken act nobody will care about the fact you're burning inside. That you've reached a point where everything is so painful that you don't even care anymore, and you don't know where to go next.

The chorus part I see more is an outsider talking about how people write songs about the pain the girl is going through, and that she's going to have to accept things the way they are.

Long winded explanation, but it's hard to do the song justice without going in-depth about it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
