"Dust Motes" as written by James Patrick Glennie, Lawrence Gott and Tim Booth....
Dust motes in a beam of light
They slow down time
Snowflake on a black wool glove
Melting in the sunlight

Dust motes in a beam of light
You left without a fight
Dust motes in a beam of light
Slow down time
It's cold outside

I'll forgive you
I'll forgive you
I'll forgive you
Your transgressions

There's a vulture at the end of my bed
It's 5am
It thinks I'm dead
There's a vulture at the end of my bed
Against the window in silhouette
There's a vulture that would have me asleep
It's looking at me like I'm some piece of meat

I'll forgive you
I'll forgive you
If you die
If you die

Everybody says I'll be alright
I don't think so
Cried over my supper
It revived
Got off the table
Started to fly

If you die
If you die
I'll forgive you
I'll forgive you

Dust motes in a beam of light
They slow down time

General CommentThis is a song about a young man laying in bed looking up at the ceiling noticing the dust in the air. He is contemplating taking back his girlfriend after he learned that she was being unfaithful to him.

My InterpretationI believe this song is about rape..

    ---
There's a vulture at the end of my bed
    It's 5am, It thinks I'm dead
    Against the window in silhouette
There's a vulture that would have me asleep
It's looking at me like I'm some piece of meat

this song is written as a diary of a traumatized rape victim, it is a bit symbolic but you can break through the words.. when he says:

"Everybody says I'll be alright, I don't think so"

which means that he\she will never get over the incident, not until:

    If you die
    If you die
    I'll forgive you
    I'll forgive you

that the victim wants their rapist dead so they can finally be at peace. I think this a very deep emotional song and I can't seem to get over it .. but this is just the way I see it .. it can have a totally different meaning but no one can get inside the head of the great Tim Booth I guess :) that man is a genius.
