At 7:30 Viktor Kent
Throws his clothes on in the circus tent
Sets the beans by the campfire on the grass
Makes sure the spandex is covering his ass
His wife comes in, hopping mad
Shouting out to beat the band
That the elephants were late, the kids are loud as hell
And the cotton candy truck broke down outside of carbondale
As she grabs the matches, he says "it'll be okay"
She says "what do you know, anyway?"
And they go to answer the ringmaster's call
Viktor was the human cannonball

In the cracked mirror, Viktor curls
His moustache and thinks of all the girls
I ended up with her, as the beans get charred
She grabs him by the belt, and drags him to the yard
As he she pulls him towards the big top tent
He wonders why the hell couldn't I just be the gent
Who runs the test your strength stand or the guess your weight
Or just took the tickets from the people at the gate
She lights the cannon with a stylish twirl
Cried "ladies and gentleman, boys and girls
In the third ring, one and all
Viktor is my human cannonball!"

I waited for you by the park
All afternoon until it got too dark
Tried to remember everything you said
Tried to call you but your phone was dead
And it was too damned cold to be standing out all night
And way too near that place where Joey got in that fight
With those guys who just thought that he shouldn't be there
I shouldn't have been either, but I doubt you even care
So I heard you finally got there about half past eight
With some friends who didn't care that you were three hours late
But I won't pick up the next time you call
I won't be your human cannonball
