Hey, hey, hey

Verse:
I met this girl down the block from me
Used to tell myself she was too hot for me
But then I saw her at the corner store
So I ran on over just to grab the door

I got her number, we started chillin', hey
We started buzzin', we got addicted
Now I, I'm the one she can't live without
I bet that's her right now

Chorus:
Shorty hittin' me up
Says she wanna re-up
Knows I got the best in town
'Cause when she get the shivers
She knows that I'll deliver
I'm the one that holds her down

She's about to break, break, break, break, break
And I won't let her wait, wait, wait, wait, wait
It's gettin' kinda late, late, late, late, late
And she just wanna shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake

Verse:
One day she started texting me
Asked if she could borrow that recipe
I told her: "Lovin' you is my specialty"
She said "Well give it up, up
Give it up, up"

When she's away, it's such a downer
And I miss her every time I'm not around her
'Cause she, she's the one I can't live without
I hope that's her right now

Chorus

Bridge:
I'm hooked on her
I must admit it
I'd do any, I'd do anything to get it
She hooked on me, a bad habit
She'd do any, she'd do anything to have it
When she calls, I know exactly what she wants from me
Yeah, anytime I hear my phone ringin'
Oohh, she wants to shake it with me

Chorus x2

    Song Meaning

I don't think the meaning is totally self explanatory because I think he is using a drug addiction metaphor for a thing he has with this girl. Some could think it was about drugs, and another about sex.

Im sorry but I think this song is HOTTTT!! It sounds great in a club, and yeah, it may be a tad dirty, but what song today isnt? lol

"re-up" is when drug addicts need another high. They're coming down from a high and need another to satisfy them. I don't think he's talking about drugs in this song per se. I think he's using the re-up analogy more towards sex. Like she knows he gives the best sex in town and whenever she needs a fix (or needs sex) she calls him because he's the best. It's almost like they're hooked on each other and can't get enough, kind of like addicts w/ their perticular drugs..

So yeah thats my analogy. Either way it's a hot song w/ a good beat.

    My Interpretation

While this song may seem like it's sex-related, it's not. The real meaning is hidden between the lines - you really have to analyze it.

Jesse McCartney is running a pizza delivery business/fast food store.

[Knows I got the best in town] [And she just want to shake] (This is actually meant to be "she just wants a shake".) This girl is placing an order with him (a milkshake) because she knows that he has the best in town.

[And I won't let her wait] The girl is getting impatient because the pizza is taking a while. Jesse doesn't want to risk his restaurant's reputation by holding up the line and earning himself bad reviews.

[One day she started texting me] Jesse's new pizza restaurant is now accepting orders via text.

[Asking if she could borrow that recipe] She liked the pizza so much that she wanted to get their recipe (Jesse wouldn't give it to her, obviously. It's top secret).

[When she calls, I know Exactly what she wants from me Every time I hear my phone ringing] This girl is a valued customer at Jesse's pizza restaurant because she comes in/calls up so often that he knows what to expect from her and what her order is going to be.

Clearly, this song is about the dependency this girl has on Jesse's pizzas and milkshakes. It tells the story of a valued customer and the evolution of a takeaway business.

What a stupid song... :/ I can't believe mainstream radio now. He sounds like an older Justin bieber (yes I know he came before jb) and this song is like... Kinda dirty o.o oh, and the meaning is self explanatory.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
