"(Still A) Weirdo" as written by Gregory Allen Kurstin and Kt Tunstall....
Now I know, I took for granted
That things would always go the way I wanted, oh
I was going to be a treetop
A sea, a boat, a rock of ages

I don't always get it right
I'd see it in a different kind of light

Pay my lip service
Keep it eloquent
Optimistic but
Never quite elegant
Still a weirdo
Still a weirdo, after all these years

I'd always thought it's automatic
To grow into a soul less static
But here I am upon the same spot
Attempting to lift off into space

I don't always get it right
But a thousand different ways
And I just might

Pay my lip service
Keep it eloquent
Optimistic but
Never quite elegant
Still a weirdo
Still a weirdo, after all these years
Still a weirdo
Still a weirdo, after all these years

Pay my lip service
Keep it eloquent
Optimistic but
Never quite elegant
Still a weirdo
Still a weirdo, after all these years

Still a weirdo
Still a weirdo, after all these years

After all these years

General CommentCannot believe nobody has commented this yet.
But I guess it's because there's not really much to say - painfully beautiful <3
You can just feel KT intertwined with these lyrics.
I think it's just about her going through life and into each day, like we all do - blindly.
And she's fine with the fact that things don't always go right and that she's "still a weirdo".

Lyric CorrectionIt seems as though she is singing, "a soul ecstatic" instead of, "soul less static" which would make more sense as she also sings of being optimistic. Soul-less static implies heartless and wavering, but a soul with less static would mean a resolute demeanor which also is not her message, I believe. Anywho, great song!

General CommentI think this song is about being a proper proper introvert and relating to how you see yourself in the world. The lines "took for granted that things would always went my way" suggests a passive influence on the world around her as she is growing up without knowing it using her highly sensitive nature coupled with her optimism to subtly and without knowing control her environment. "I don't always get it right, I see it in a different kind of light" - the conflict of having to navigate through life somewhat pleasing others in order not upset them - this is common for people highly introverted as they see things differently to the dominant philosophy in society. "Pay my lip service" - make the necessary conversation needed to get through life so she can get on with what she really wants to do. I'd always thought it's automatic to grow into a soulless static" - "here I am on the same spot, attempting to lift off into space" - I think this means how she thought she would become like everybody else as she got older, the way that she saw others, but she has realised that she is different to most people, keeping her somewhat childlike enthusiasm into adulthood.
