What gives you the right to think that you can come and save me?
Picture perfect world, I picture violence in disguise.
I'll save my breath for something real as you look towards the sky,
pray forgiveness this ends tonight.

I've been awake for 40 days and 40 nights and I just can't stop dreaming
I've been awake for 40 days and 40 nights and I just can't stop dreaming
Restless I found your weakness.
Restless I found your weakness.

I can tell that you have been under his control.
Making subtle movements being oppressed inside your home.
Wearing this mask to hide yourself from the world.
Falling short, pray forgiveness.

I am a demon so deliver me from this.
From this, I'm in.
I am a demon so deliver me from this.
From this, I'm in.
From this moment on, I see a world shattered and cold,
I see the problems, I see the broken homes.

And it's all starting to get old,
all this good news is bad news just waiting to unfold.
And it's all starting to get old,
all this good news is so old.

I'm not listening.
We're not listening.
I'm not listening.
We're not listening.

We all will die alone.
I've been awake for 40 days and 40 nights and I just can't stop dreaming
I've been awake for 40 days and 40 nights and I'm so
Restless I found your weakness.
Restless I found your weakness.

I am a demon so deliver me from this.
I am a demon so deliver me
from this very moment
from this very moment
I am a demon so deliver me from this.
I see the problems.
I see the broken homes.
Restless, I found your weakness

I guess that I could see someone who identifies with Christianity, or any religion in general, feeling victimized by thinking that this song is about them, but if you even watch the music video they made for this song you will realize that they are targeting most everyone in the world that is doing something wrong. A direct quote from the lead singer:

"[The music video is] not to shit on people who believe in God or any religion for that matter. Its about the evils and ignorance in things like religion. If someone believes in it because they feel like it works for them, then that is good. Not because a band does, or anything else. They do it for themselves. But just because they believe and you don't, doesn't mean you have to shit on it. Just respect that its different than what you believe."

P.s. Don't start a religious debate about the glories of the Bible on the internet. You will not come out happy or on top, I can guarantee you.

General CommentTheir vocalist has such a good sound! Too bad he's letting the actions of "Christians" lead to how he defines himself; the actions of humans.

Basically, He's saying that Christians dont really have anything, they just put up a front. Altough they think they have something greater, they are just being brainwashed, and the truth is that this world has no God. They are looking to a non-existent deity to solve their problems, but in the end they are just finding ways around their problems and creating more problems in the end. They are just bringing more BS into this world that we dont need, and they should just get real and quit supressing others that havent been overcome by a false sense of faith and security.

To me this song is routed towards Christianity the religion, not Christian faith. I couldnt agree with him more in that sense. It just sucks for me as faithful Christian, to see someone let the views of these extremists people that claim to be doing God's work make him see Christianity as something that it really isnt. If this guy really knew the bible, and knew what it said, he would know that these extremists are misled and dont have their crap straight. They ARE living a lie, they ARE living a front; they just listen to some guy in a pulpit without learning for themselves what the bible really teaches. They ARE brainwashed. But not all of "God's people" are brainwashed like that, there are multitudes of us that do have a head on our shoulders and a voice in our hearts that tells us the truth, not what these extremists create to cope with their own issues.

I know, it's very opionated. I figure that since I'll be the first to comment I might as well let it all out.

    Y'all take it easy,
    Chance

Song MeaningStraight from the band themselves when they released the track-by-track on AltPress.com

    Damien
Andrew Dijorio: I’m so glad that I wrote this song. Tom [Williams, guitar] tells me this is one of the best songs I’ve ever written. I agree. [Laughs.] Damien is such a sick name--that’s the first thing I want to say. This song was written about religion and some of my experiences when I was younger. I remember writing this song while pacing in my room, just really feeling this song. I felt strongly about it, and it was cool to piece it together. Everything just made sense--the vocal patterns and the lyrics, it all flowed really well. “What gives you the right to think that you can come and save me” is the first line of the song. It’s referring to someone involved in the Christian/Catholic community who thinks it’s okay to just go up to someone and push their beliefs. It’s kind of rude, but I get it they only want to help you find your way. One time when I was young, I went to a church retreat in Massachusetts. My girlfriend at the time and her family wanted me to go. I remember everyone at one point under this big tent praising the lord or, you know, singing about how much they love Jesus and stuff. Out of nowhere, people were starting to drop like flies while speaking in tongues. I was like, “What?” There’s no way that’s real. It was ridiculous. I guess that experience had some influence on some of the things I was trying to say while I was writing this song. I’m not saying that I hate people who believe in God or anything like that--it’s just not for me. The second verse of this song touches on someone being forced into religion and believing something that they’re unsure of. I know a handful of people who are awful human beings, but think if they say a couple prayers at church on Sundays they wash their hands of it. I don’t think it works that way. The chorus of this song is about those long days when I do some extensive drinking. [Laughs.] My mom is going to love reading that.
