As time goes by
All eventually
Comes full circle
Just turning end for end
Where benightedness
Tip the scales
And once the fire
Has been lit
The mind's eye closes anew
Through endless ages
Ever lapsing into old ways

A denied tomorrow
Calling on yesterday
Headway in reverse
Only shadows reach
The light of day

Another sun
Now sets within
On the torn apart
Not to be found
Again therein
Bleeding fry the heart
Once more a dawn
Now wearing thin
Broken work of art
A can of worm
Incisive burns
Of the dark

Whatever comes now
Nothing but a
Reflection bygone
Restored continuum
And the tide
is on the turn

A denied tomorrow
Calling on yesterday
Headway in reverse
Only shadows reach
The light of day

Another sun
Now sets within
On the torn apart
Not to be found
Again therein
Bleeding fry the heart
Once more a dawn
Now wearing thin
Broken work of art
A can of worm
Incisive burns
Of the dark

Ruins
Laid in without cause
Sourceless call
For silence
Self-supporting fear
unaware abidance
Firm like ropes of sand
Past that go for nothing
Come leathen tears

Another sun
Now sets within
On the torn apart
Not to be found
Again therein
Bleeding fry the heart
Once more a dawn
Now wearing thin
Broken work of art
A can of worm
Incisive burns
Of the dark

Another sun
Now sets within
On the torn apart
Not to be found
Again therein
Bleeding fry the heart
Once more a dawn
Now wearing thin
Broken work of art
A can of worm
Incisive burns
Of the dark

My InterpretationThis song speaks to me on a level that few songs manage to.

To me this is all about the darkness that permeates our civilization today. Evil isn't very present today, but neither is good. That's what this song is trying to say. "Benightedness tipped the scales" translates to me as "Darkness and unenlightedness have changed our world for the worse". No-one is willing stand up for what they believe in because they are scared of the strength of the world rallied against them. Add to this that so many people nowadays are willing to close their eyes to the beauty of the world because society has provided them with such enticing alternatives. That's what "Incisive burns of the dark" means, it means society is quite literally cutting away at the beauty in this world.

"A denied tomorrow calling on yesterday" In my mind refers to the future of so many bright souls crying out to a world stuck in the past to no avail, and because of this they are stuck in their "Self supported fear". Due to this, the "Lethean tears" (Which I believe comes from the Greek word "Lethe" meaning forgetfulness or Darkness) are the tears of countless souls slowly forgetting what it means to live in a world ruled by wonder and instead submitting to the "Sourceless call for silence" from a world that would have them stand in line and forget the "light" from whence they came.
