"Summer Well" as written by and Daniel Kessler Paul Banks....
Fevered the plastics that seal your body
They won't stop this way, hey, hey

I was your eye in the night when the prophets fell
I said, "it looks like you summer well"

But I want to stay magical
I want to stay yearning (nobody told you, nobody told you)
I want to feel up on your life
I missed you
But it looks like you summered well

All the while, the protests have shined the same
But you will never have noticed
It's alright

I rely on the process, don't mind the frame
They will never take this dream from me

It's alright
(I need you back)
It's alright
(It's all the way behind us)
It's alright

I miss you, babe
I want you back
The signs we gave
Weren't those signs supposed to last?

The rainy days
The Summer's back
The signs we gave
So what was that?

You know we have ways
To make the seasons touch these ones
So let me take this, cover your eyes
Look away
Until it fades

All the while all the protests that shined the same
But you will never notice
It's alright
I rely on the process, don't mind the frame
They will never take this dream from me

It's alright
(Dream from me)
It's alright
(You sent me)
It's alright
(You sent me)
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
(You sent me)

General CommentAs philw44 said, I think it's about a past relationship.

He still loves her but knows that they can't be together, but he enjoys the torment ("I want to stay yearning") that he creates for himself when he thinks about her.

I actually hear "All the while the protests will shine the same, but you will never notice" -He keeps on protesting either in his mind or out loud but the message never gets to her.

"I rely on the process, don't mind the frame. They will never take this dream from me, it's alright. I'll make it back" -This tormenting that he inflicts on himself is just part of his natural process of getting over the girl; as depressed as he may seem it has to happen this way for him. He will never be without the thought of her in his mind but his external composure will "make it back" eventually.

Anyways, that's my interpretation of it.

General CommentSurely It has to be about a former relationship. As simple as someone he still has feelings for but she doesn't?

I take the phrase "It looks like you summered well" to mean that since they split she has got on with things, lived her life to the full... had sunshine in her life.

"All the while the protestors shine the same But you will never notice - It's alright"... He makes it obvious that he still has feelings but she is enjoying her current life so much that she doesn't notice (or just ignores it). It's alright... He deals with it because he respects her/loves her. But when people say they are alright.. they really aren't. He tells himself "It's all the way behind us" and "I'll make it back" to try and get through it.. but he's still hurting.

"I rely on the process, don't mind the frame. They will never take this dream from me" - Maybe he has a process for getting through a break-up.. some sort of denial.

General CommentSummer Well has hit the surface in this fish bowl my life. Its so tragic. I don't want to see her this way! The plastics are literal and the rain are tears. Aging handsomely with so many beautiful words in between. She sent for him after it was too late. The profits fell (depression) and that was it. Maybe he could have saved her and that was the dream complete with a process.

General CommentA relationship that was maybe just friends with benifits, most likely a summer fling every year. and shes moved on and got over it he probably never wanted anything more, until she wasnt interested
