So they say that the end is coming
I'm saying that they don't know nothing
It's been right here the whole time
Disguised as a straight line

If we already knew who to be
Time is something that we wouldn't need

One by one
You will lose yourself as you keep on following
Following footsteps,
That lead in the wrong direction
One by one
You are fading out as you're slowly settling
Settling for the same
You play it safe,
You end progression

Retreating to the same old places
Breeding all the same old faces
Youth is wasted on the young
Life is wasted on the living ones

If we already knew who to be
Time is something that we wouldn't need

One by one
You will lose yourself as you keep on following
Following footsteps,
That lead in the wrong direction
One by one
You are fading out as you're slowly settling
Settling for the same
You play it safe,
You end progression

I've been cheated, i've been broken
And it made me a better man
Something you will never say
And you will end before beginning
The same as you ever were
Quietly, you'll slip away

One by one
You will lose yourself as you keep on following
Following footsteps,
That lead in the wrong direction
One by one
You are fading out as you're slowly settling
Settling for the same
You play it safe,
You end progression

You play it safe, you end progression

It's pretty obvious what this song is about. It's about straying away from the straight line, it's about making mistakes and evolving as a person. If you continue to play life safely without making any risks or trying to grow, then your life is wasted and you won't enjoy it as you would had you made those risks and mistakes in life.
