I'm gonna telephone
See if you're all alone
I'm gonna mess you up

I'm gonna write a letter
We love you, feeling better?
I'm gonna make it up

I'm gonna make a fuss
I'm gonna catch a bus
I'm gonna sell my beat

I'm gonna make a noise
I'm gonna smash my ties
Every time we meet

You in your place
I'm in my place
We could telephone
Is this the right face

I know that you care for me
I'll be who I want to be
Be as free as we can be
We're modern lovers
See how modern we can be
We're modern lovers

In case of any doubt
I'm gonna ask you out
I've got to make it clear

Love is real enough
But I don't need that stuff
Nobody gets in here

Let's do it for a while
The independent style
But I might be unkind

I love you anyway
But maybe not today
Might want to change my mind

You in your place
I'm in my place
We can telephone
Is this the right face

I know that you care for me
I'll be who I want to be
Be as free as we can be
We're modern lovers
See how modern we can be
We're modern lovers

I know that you care for me
I don't care if you can't see me
Be as free as we can be
We're modern lovers
See how modern we can be
We're modern lovers

Lyric CorrectionI'm pretty certain that it is "Well, are you feeling better?" and not "We love you, feeling better," though it does sound better.
And also, it's "I'm gonna smash my toys;" definitely not ties... that doesn't really make sense.
