"Slow Motion" as written by and Noah Benjamin Lennox....
So they say practice makes you perfect
So they say you can't touch me oh no
So they say that can happen
So they say better safe than sorry

That's what they always say
And when I swore it's down
It's clear just how
It's what they don't say
That's what counts
Deep down (what counts)
Step off step out

So they say practice makes you perfect
So they say you can't touch me oh no
So they say that can happen
So they say better safe than sorry

That's what they always say
And when I swore it's down
It's clear just how
It's what they don't say
That's what counts
It's counting
And be sure it counts

Lyric CorrectionMy draft of the lyrics as I currently hear them. I used both the studio version and the Dublin bootleg, but erred with the studio version if I heard differences.

This is being labeled as a "lyric correction," but assuming I have gotten the lyrics mostly correct here the song is a pretty clear statement against people who just spout cliches, aphorisms, and maxims (the first four lines, plus the idea that everyone knows what "they" say). It's is saying that if you really believe in something you should show it with action ("step up" and "it counts in how you show it counts"), not words. Only action gives your opinion meaning.

    Here you go:

So they say practice makes you perfect
So they say you can't teach an old dog
So they say have an apple a day
So they say better safe than sorry

    Everyone knows what they say...

And when I slow it down it's clear
just how it's what they don't say that's
    what counts...
    Deep down...
    Deep down (what counts)
Deep down (what counts & say what)...

Step up, step up, step up, step up
Step out, step out, step out, step out

So they say practice makes you perfect
So they say you can't teach an old dog
So they say have an apple a day
So they say better safe than sorry

    Everyone knows what they say...

And when I slow it down it's clear
just how it's what they don't say that's
    what counts

it counts in how you show it counts...
    it counts, it counts
    i'm counting...

it counts in how you show it counts...
    it counts, it counts
    i'm counting...

General CommentIt's no better to be safe than sorry. In the case of loving, safe is sorry.

General Commenti'm glad i know what is being said, since i would always sing along phonetically.. which usually meant i would sing mostly gibberish for the whole song.. for the "everyone knows what they say" i know its absurd but i would sing "and i want some pussy" ;)

Song MeaningHe's talking about how language, especially when it's overused, often has no real meaning and most things are better expressed without words.

General CommentHonestly, this is gonna sound really lame but I feel like I'm on the same page as Panda Bear. and I don't even like the new album as much (yet) - I go to UGA and just finished my English and Philosophy degree about how all these stories they've been telling us are like myths to impart some meaning but they don't know it. We started an electronic band just for fun, and now rave/house music is just the thing to try so uhh I feel like we're abreast somehow. Did Panda Bear influence me? I dunno, probably, but not with this particularly before this album came out
