"In The Dark" as written by Michael Hanmer, Matthew O'halloran and Michael Rainbow....
All these broken pieces left unglued
Should never find their way
Into the hands of someone like you

I'm in the dark
I'm alone around you
I've never been here before
Nobody here to get me through
Oh I'm in the dark

Every minute shed is never mine
Frozen in this fog and hiding
Every second in time

I'm in the dark
I'm alone around you
I've never been here before
Nobody here to get me through

Oh I'm losing my faith in every way
It points to you
Oh I'm in the dark
I'm alone around you
Oh I'm in the dark

The more bleak the day
The less I behave as if
Everything black can wash away
Why can't I just trade a dream for a way
To peel back the shade behind the gray

I'm in the dark
I'm alone around you
I've never been here before
Nobody here to get me through

Oh I'm in the dark

My InterpretationI absolutely love the birthday massacre and their odd videos! At first from just listening to the lyrics I thought it was about love, and how it can be a dangerous thing. After watching the music video I think the song has a much deeper meaning.

In the video, Chibi pulls "herself" out of the mirror. I think it is a representation of her bottled up emotions and unsolved problems. She wants to let them all out and confront them at first. This is why she has the key, the key that locks her heart, and tries unlocking it. But after hiding them for so long and possibly even denying the feelings to herself, she doesn't feel relieved, but instead finds this mass ocean of suppressed emotions that begin bleeding out. She gets scared and tries to lock them back up but the bandages prevent her from doing so. The scene under the covers show how everything is in disarray and she is confused. Then we come to my favorite part of the video, and possibly the "creepiest". Chibi decides to ignore the emotions all over again, but she can't hide them anymore, or more accurately, she can not run from them. We see the figure of "herself" on television, drawing nearer. Then the "emotion self" pulls her back down, trapping her. She can't hide from them but she can't confront and resolve her emotions and problems either. She is trapped. "In the dark..."

All these broken pieces left unglued (unsolved problems, suppressed emotions...)
Should never find their way into
the hands of someone like you(Should never have happened to someone like her. Someone who bottles things up....)

I'm in the dark (She's confused. Trapped.)
    I'm alone around you
I've never been here before (She's never tried facing her emotions...never been trapped like this)
Nobody here to get me through (No one has ever tried helping...nor is there to help now...)
    Oh, I'm in the dark

Every minute shared is never mine (She has a fake personality. Hiding certain feelings. It isnt her.)
Frozen in this fog and hiding every second in time (Trapped in this ocean of emotions)

I'm losing my faith in every way (Im confused. Lost...)
That points to you, Oh (its her own fault)

The more weak the day (the harder the day...)
The less I behave as if (the harder it is to act....)
Everything black can wash away (as though everythings fine. And all her problems will go away...)
Oh, Can't I just trade a dream for a way
To peel back the shade behind the grey? (Isn't there some simple beautiful way, to make it all go away...)

General CommentThe song is definitely about chibi. Hiding her emotions and saddness and holding it in. But when it came out, it came rushing out. Once her feelings were free they couldn't be locked up again. That's why in the video. She tries to lock the heart back up and can't, the bandages stop her. The girl in the mirror is her inter self. Her inter emotions.
I love the bands, music, videos, and meaning behind there songs their awesome <3 also love this song.

General CommentThis is my thought on it

(All these broken pieces left unglued)

She is missing a part of something in her life, an identity perhaps?

(Should never find their way into the hands of someone like you)

Somebody uses what she's missing and takes advantage of it

(I'm in the dark I'm alone around you I've never been her before nobody here to get me through)
She finds out that the person says "I'll be your friend" and puts here in an emotional trap that she can't get out of.

(Every minute shed is never mine)
What really mattered was taken from her

(Frozen in this fog and hiding every second in time)
She realizes that she can't tell what's a friend and what's not.

(I'm losing my faith in every way it points to you)
She's given up of everything nothing can help her and it's that persons fault

(the more bleak the day the less I'll behave)
The more that person fades away she won't conform to them and their wants for her

    (Everything black can wash away)
The bad, unpleasent things will go away and not be in her life

(Oh can I just trade a dream for a way to peel back the shade behiend the grey?)
She now wishes she had never fallen into this trap. She realizes how dull it was to be this persons clone and wants to just push them out of her life

General CommentThe video is so weird,I think it reflects the lyrics in a way...
Going from what Samiscool was saying (I totally agree :D )
The part with the mirror, I think Chibi is representing hermind, while the weird..Uh..Thing person represents her emotions and such. Like, her eyes are hollow, showing maybe her mind is hollow too, behind it?

And the heart has the lock that Chibi tries to open, to open her own heart, but it makes it bleed - All the bad emotions locked up pouring out, maybe showing how damaged she is. And it doesn't pour from just the heart, it pours from everything, like everything poured the pain into her. Chibi's emotion says it all, that she never realized the damage the person had done and she's absolutely horrified at it all.

Then the bandages holding them apart from each other...Her trying to lock it away again, like it was in the mirror in the first place, but she wants to know it more and pull away from the person damaging her - Maybe they represent that person, trying to keep her mind away from her damage-done emotions? Then it gets buried in the covers, and the emotion thing gets dragged away again.

I dunno about the end, maybe the hands represent the person hurting her? She/he tries to muffle her mouth so she can't scream or reject him, then drags her down so that she can't fight back.

I dunno, this is all just theory >.> Could be wrong but that's what I think about it.
