"Caps Lock" as written by Mathangi Arulpragasam and Charles Smith....
What's around me?

Liquid washed down my throat like soap, yeah
I don't wanna think about the shit that's warped
But I don't wanna be deep on this beat
But I can't fucking let go of whats around me

Cap locks are still on when I log off to sleep
My baby stays awake for every dream i try to keep
No matter what they say, I'll carry on thinking this way
I oversee my life and whats happened to me

Liquid washed down my throat like soap, yeah
I don't wanna think about the shit that's warped
But I don't wanna be deep on this beat
And I can't fucking let go of whats around me

Yeah, my left side is my right side
If its vice versa I'm still the same side

Stay until it gets better
I never trust a letter
When it don't write, don't matter
I just got a knew one

I don't wanna get lost on your screen
except when its hit by big sunbeam
I want you to know my thought stream
That's why I'm always trying to stay in my dream

General CommentProbably the most misunderstood album of 2010.

General CommentA lot more melancholic and wounded than the average M.I.A. song. Kind of reminds me of "20 Dollar" from her second album.

General Commentis it only me who thinks that she is talking about technology? It's so clear to me that she is saying that sometimes she feels suffocated in the whole technologic world, and many in verses this feeling shows up.

Nobody send letters, everything is so superficial, so sad, and that's the feeling I guess is in the lyric.

General CommentAh thanks for this I think the meaning is just being your self and the struggles she went through personally while being stuck in America for 18 months and not being able to get out

General Commentwow that very last verse is interesting...it's like she wants to be focused in on, but like she wants to be seen only in the light of things. and the last two lines seem like she's risking her sanity (maybe i wouldnt go that far) to stay in her dream, or stay in the scene, to keep going with whatever she's doing probably imagination-wise to put out a product, such as this song...god the whole song..sad and sweet. what do you call that? sappy?

My InterpretationI think the part i dont wanna be deep on this beat but I can't fucking let go of whats around me is trying to describe when things are bothering you and as much as you try to see past them and not let them actually bother you, you can't

Also I think it's a song about having to be able to trust yourself, even if you have to go against (liquid like soap) the norm

General Comment"I don't wanna get lost on your screen except for when it's hit by a big sunbeam".

I could be wrong but to me, it feels like she's talking about the common insecurity that people have where you want people to see you as a certain image that isn't quite you, but something you think will please people enough to accept you and keep their attention on you. But when that "big sun beam" hits, as in when the lights come on, people will be able to see details you probably don't want them to.
