"Land of Feeling" as written by Michael Chaim Bloch, Kristina Lieberson, Jennifer Turner, Peter Hale and Luke Temple Breneman....
You want to start a new world
Easy come easy, you got madness on your mind
I'm not saying that you can't
You got a gift that's neither beast nor neither man
I think I know where you stay
Down in the garden where the mice kneel down to pray
In silence

Darel, you were my friend in the land of feeling
Old heart, Corinthian
You said you got your letter
Could you be happy to be here?
Can you be happy to be here?
It's easy

You want to start a new world
Easy come easy, you got madness on your mind
I'm not saying that you can't
You got a gift that's neither beast nor neither man
I think I know where you stay
Down in the garden where the mice kneel down to pray
In silence

I wear your clothes in the darkness
Without a photograph
You wear your colors in the darkness
Red, red like your enemies
Could you be happy to be here?
Can you be happy to be here?
It's easy

General CommentThis is a really powerful song, probably the most arresting on the album.
The meaning is difficult to figure, but it seems like its perhaps written to cheer up a friend struggling through a rough patch in his life: someone frustrated with the world around them, trying desperately to break out of the doldrums they are in.
Temple is sympathizing with this friend, telling him he was a kindred spirit in the way they see the world, but also trying to convince him to accept reality, and simply "be happy to be here", that its easy, you just have to accept that heartache is a part of life, that the hurt can actually make you feel alive, and that it actually serves as quite a visceral reminder of the juxtaposing positive emotion we can feel from love and friendship. Just have to wade through murky waters to eventually arrive at something fulfilling. Its touching to think that he has had a friend that he is trying to cheer up, i think we have all known people who struggle even more than ourselves to navigate life's tricky waters.
