"Bang Bang Bang" as written by Mark Ronson, Amanda Warner, Kamaal Fareed, Nick Hodgson, Alex Greenwald and Homer / Steinweiss....
Un, deux, trois
Bang, bang, bang

Feathers, I'm plucking feathers
One by one, by one
No more skylarking, around my head
Your information
But there's no hiding, behind moulting feathers

On the plane, on my brain, 'bout to do the sho'
40k contract, take it out the do'
Dice, symbolize my life, roll 'em on the flo'
From your grubby hands, as you hand the grandstand
You live a shitty life, we live a bon, bon vie
Hotter than the book, while we watch the tv
Think you got us fooled, ooh never again
First time, shame on me, second time, your time will end

No way, bang your dead, here's your silhouette
Je te plumerai la, tete
Je te plumerai la, tete
Bang your dead, alouette, here's your silhouette
Je te plumerai la, tete
Je te plumerai la, tete

No way, no, (the clock) it's ticking forward
No way, it's just a cruel, cruel world

Cruel world is fittin', they got us all hittin'
With late night divisions, and lab app decisions
But based with decisions, to fight a fricassee
And you've clearly decided, on how to handle me
Difficile, imbecile, is it fake, is it real
Are we dying on our feet, are we trying in our sleep
There's a rumour goin' 'round, 'bout the suits runnin' town
If you look into the sky, them birds fly high, high, high

Numbers, you got that number
You're looking outwards, and don't see the big picture
Over your shoulder, you'll get no last words
Because it's too late, you've clipped your own wings (your own wings)

No way, bang your dead, here's your silhouette
Je te plumerai la, tete
Je te plumerai la, tete
Bang your dead, alouette, here's your silhouette
Je te plumerai la, tete
Je te plumerai la, tete

We're never gonna, believe in, the stories, that you're weavin'
We're never gonna, believe in, the stories, that you're weavin'
We're never gonna, believe in, the stories, that you're weavin'
We're believin' in the proof, we're believin' in the truth
We're believin' in each other, not you, you, you

Stories (you with the tall tales), how many stories (so many tall tales)
We climb the structure (you scale the ladder)
You build it higher (you make us madder)
We take our aim (so now we're bearin' off)
You perch above your nest (in your charms)
The stories in your head (it's a crazy bald head)
That's what got you dead

No way, bang your dead, here's your silhouette
Je te plumerai la, tete
Je te plumerai la, tete
Bang your dead, alouette, here's your silhouette
Je te plumerai la, tete
Je te plumerai la, tete

Un, deux, trois
No one ever does it like that anymore
Bang, bang, bang
When feathers fly, you deny everything (alouette)
Un, deux, trois
No one ever does it like that anymore
Bang, bang, bang (alouette)
When feathers fly, you deny everything yo

General Commentthat religious breakdown is great but q-tip is on this track and he's a pretty strict muslim. i know the imagery you draw on is mainly christian but i'm not sure that he would agree with what amounts to an anti-religious message seeing as jesus is still a prophet in islam. i reckon it has to do more with consumerism and so called commercial 'power' politics with a catchy as shit hook!

Song MeaningNot everyone knows the meaning of the words to Alouette en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… - the line used in this song means "I will pluck your head", and the song title is "bang bang bang".

Putting 2 and 2 together along with the theme of being lied to and controlled shown elsewhere in the song, I'm fairly sure this song is anti-establishment in one shape or form, possibly surrounding government/media cover ups and basically claiming that there will be a counter uprising against these people.

Another element is speaking to the general public audience saying that so many things go over our heads and we don't pay attention to what's being clearly covered up and that people who choose to go along with the lies are as bad as the people instigating them.

Finally, especially with q tips part, I think he's describing the other level of world awareness experienced by those who are wealthy/successful but still very much counter culture and not necessarily in on the larger lies portrayed by the 360 degree media.

Sorry I haven't annotated which lines suggest each of those ideas, but I think once you have them in your head and you read through/listen to the lyrics again, it's pretty much plain as day.

Nice to have a cryptic, upbeat resistance song! It only further shows Mark Ronson's desire to become more influential with his work, thus putting his own name as the artist rather than producer of the upcoming album.

General CommentI think the song is about people who are shooting as a result of injustice (real or perceived.)

People were told they should count to calm themselves down in times of extreme anger (un, deux, trois). They say 'no one ever does it like that anymore. Bang, bang, bang. When feathers fly you deny everything.' People are not counting, THEY'RE SHOOTING!

I think the song points to the fact that with increasing violence, dissatisfaction, and increasing awareness, there will be no way to shield oneself 'with molting feathers."

Molting is a process in which birds shed their feathers. It must be warm when this process takes place because feathers protect birds from the cold ('It's a cruel, cruel world'). Again, MNDR has said she was plucking the feathers. This means the birds were not ready and they will suffer when the truth is revealed (plucked feathers/lies shed=birds exposed to the cold/truth revealed) The "birds" will not voluntarily shed their insulating feathers. So, she will pluck them to expose the truth. Their feathers can be considered lies in this case.

The fact of the matter is that every time one of these incidents take place, the perpetrator is identified as the problem, when they are really a sensitive and volatile symptom of a greater issue.

General CommentThe song is based on the popular French Canadian children's song "Alouette," which means "skylark." The chorus directly references lyrics from "Alouette" including the line "Je te plumerai la tête," which means "I shall pluck your head." The song alouette was a well known song sung to pass time for the workers of the french fur trade.
Although i am not sure why this song is connected to it, it just is ..... truely amazing song too

General Commentmight it be a rage against the lark of consumerist society? the petulant tennis player at the end of the video seems to sum up the absurdity and immorality they’re fighting against….?

General CommentI think this song talks about God / Jesus / Religious People. It's talking about someone who controls his life and tells him what to do, for example =

*** no more skylarking, around my head
    your information
but there's no hiding, behind moulting feathers

We're always told by religion and stuff that skylarking and partying around is not good.

*** you live a shitty life, we live a bon, bon vie
hotter than the book, while we watch the tv

Hotter than the book, in my opinion is talking about the Bible in this case

*** bang your dead, alouette, here's your silhouette
    je te plumerai la, tête
    je te plumerai la, tête

No way, no, (the clock) it's ticking forward
no way, it's just a cruel, cruel world

Talking about how Jesus is long ago gone and we should continue our lives

*** we're never gonna, believe in, the stories, that you're weavin'
we're believin' in the proof, we're believin' in the truth
we're believin' in each other, not you, you, you

He's saying that he believes in things which have proof and not in some old stories

*** Stories (you with the tall tales), how many stories (so many tall tales)
we climb the structure (you scale the ladder)
you build it higher (you make us madder)
we take our aim (so now we're bearin' off)
you perch above your nest ( _ in your charms)
the stories in your head (it's a crazy bald head)
    that's what got you dead

How we have a complicated life with obstacles and bad stuff happening and that just makes people and society crazier and madder.

Well that's what I understand when I listen to this song, I believe in God and Jesus so don't take it personally if you believe too. It's just how I interprete this song.

General Commentgood call. the bird could be the 'holy spirit' and the repetition of 'bang your dead' is the insistence of the finality of death.

but the 'you live a shitty life, we live a bon, bon vie' and 'when feathers fly, you deny everything' seems to speak more to a real person than a deity. But like haszcz says, it's not clear.

maybe it's a blend of both; religion and consumerism - like that unique brand of American culture, where Jesus died so we can all eat 'Freedom Fries' and make a heroic career for ourselves?

Song Meaningim pretty sure this song is directed towards our government.
There is the most obvious evidence.

and you've clearly decided, on how to handle me
difficile, immbocile, is it fake, is it real
are we dying on our feet, are we trying in our sleep
there's a rumour goin' 'round, 'bout the suits runnin' town
if you look into the sky, them birds fly high, high, high
Stories (you with the tall tales), how many stories (so many tall tales)
we climb the structure (you scale the ladder)
