I don't know where I lost my confidence.
Somewhere between "are we there yet?" and "have we been paid yet?".
Drew lines on a map and made it.
Further then, than most did.

Street scene smeared through darkened windows and the last dregs of sunlight.
Came back and played catch up;
Boys to families, houses to new homes, and it's lights out over Manchester.

Keep yr promises held high, we want palace fires and seperate bedrooms.
Oh! There's nothing you can say, you got exactly what you came for.

Keep yr promises held high, we want palace fires and seperate bedrooms.
Oh! There's nothing you can say, we got exactly what you came for.

But do you wantwantwant it anymore?
And, d'you still dance to us sometimes?
I've got these polaroid daydreams of hopes packed flat.
Of rented rooms with high ceilings built to spare feelings.
And I'm worried Topshop is going to eat you and spit out yr bones for coathangers.

(It's a little bit scrappy but...)

General CommentThis is what Alexi from the band says about this in the European Disco compilation liner notes:

another leeds song. everyone we know in leeds lives in awesome high ceiling decadent old buildings, we're pretty jealous. topshop. meh.
this totally falls into my ever growing category of songs that i'm kind of proud of the words but would be mortified if the person it's about ever connected it with themselves.
