"Erase My Scars" as written by and Lauzon Joseph Lauzon....
Reckless and weary the truth has been buried
Held down by the hand that refuses to carry
The burden you built, the lies, do you hear me?
The insult, the white flag you refuse to carry
I'm letting you go and all that you showed me
I'm letting you know that you don't control me
The feeling is cold and life is unfolding
Reckless and weary, I'm desperately holding on

So if you can't get a word in it's because I don't care what you think
Don't be alone inside a world that's filled with make-believe

Broke! Inside
This life, you can never be reborn within
I came this far erase my scars
Fight! This time
Inside, take a break from the lie you live
I came this far erase my scars

Find my control, find reasons to beat this
Find truth below, the lies and the wreckage
I can't let go, I'm too close, too restless
I'm letting you know, I'm far too aggressive

So if you can't get a word in it's because I don't care what you think
Don't be alone inside a world that's filled with make-believe

Broke! Inside
This life, you can never be reborn within
I came this far erase my scars
Fight! This time
Inside, take a break from the lie you live
I came this far erase my scars

Erase my scars

Five years ago
My life was affected
By years of hope and learning life lessons
You let me know
By leaving me helpless
What then was unknown is now unprotected, I'm so!

Broke! Inside
This life, you can never be reborn within
I came this far erase my scars
Fight! This time
Inside, take a break from the lie you live
I came this far erase my scars

Erase my scars
Broke! Inside
I'm broke inside
Broke! Inside

My Interpretation I believe this song is about the conflict between what really matters and distract-ors. In the verses, he speaks about how he has lost what is true underneath the "wreckage" that was caused by "reckless" behavior. The reckless behavior is whatever made the protagonist forget what really matters, whether it be money, job searching, sex, or any other distracting behavior. After each verse, he says that he is working on defeating this behavior ("It's because I don't care what you think") In the second verse, "he still can't let go" of those behaviors, despite his desire to cut it off. The only part I really struggle to interpret is the part before the last chorus. For one, it starts off with an esoteric "Five years ago," which discloses personal experience. This causes me to understand who is personified within this part; the key part to this segment, to me, is the unprotection of the unknown. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? To relate to Chandler's nephew, the understanding of what matters is actually the nephew himself. The nephew's struggle helps wake up Chandler to see what really matters.

The chorus involves two speakers and is broken up into two parts. The first being from the first shout of "BROKE" and to the next shout. This speaker also says, "erase my scars." The first part of the chorus is simply stating that what matters, or the life of the nephew can never be reborn to him in this current life, causing anger and frustration.

The second speaker has one line: "Take a break from the lie you live." This speaker is the nephew. It is the nephew asking for Chandler to stop dealing with all the unnecessary activities of life, and remember what is true before his nephew dies. In a less esoteric interpretation, what matters is the speaker and is telling the protagonist to give up on the unnecessary activities, and to find what is true.

General CommentNO COMMENTS?!? This song is so personal to the singer.. He is talking about the death of his nephew, who died from cancer at the age of 8.. This is basically what he is saying to God about his pain.. Really good song.. The music video is amazing and you can see the sorrow in his actions.. Everyone should watch the video.
