This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
You're so hypnotizing
Could you be the devil, could you be an angel
Your touch magnetizing
Feels like I'm floating, leaves my body glowing
They say be afraid
You're not like the others, futuristic lovers
Different DNA, they don't understand you
You're from a whole other world
A different dimension
You open my eyes
And I'm ready to go, lead me into the light
Kiss me, k-k-kiss me
Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison
Take me, t-t-take me
Wanna be a victim, ready for abduction
Boy, you're an alien, your touch so foreign
Its supernatural, extraterrestrial
You're so supersonic
Wanna feel your powers, stun me with your lasers
Your kiss is cosmic, every move is magic
You're from a whole other world
A different dimension
You open my eyes
And I'm ready to go, lead me into the light
Kiss me, k-k-kiss me
Infect me with your love, and fill me with your poison
Take me, t-t-take me
Wanna be your victim, ready for abduction
Boy, you're an alien, your touch so foreign
Its supernatural, extraterrestrial
There is this transcendental, on another level
Boy, you're my lucky star
I wanna walk on your wave length
And be there when you vibrate
For you I risk it all, all
Kiss me, k-k-kiss me
Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison
Take me, t-t-take me
Wanna be your victim, ready for abduction
Boy, you're an alien, your touch so foreign
It's supernatural, extraterrestrial
Extraterrestrial, extraterrestrial
Boy, you're an alien, your touch so foreign
Its supernatural, extraterrestrial
Could you be the devil, could you be an angel

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
first off, i LOVE this song. i'm really excited about the rest of the album. the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. the affect this guy has on her makes her believe that he's something other than human. he has her so infatuated that he MUST be something supernatural. metaphorically, obviously. has NOTHING to do with the illuminati or fornicating with demonic entities to gain a higher standing in society... it's JUST A SONG with a metaphor. anyone who believes otherwise needs to go back to their parent's basement and continue to read their comics & watch star trek. contemplate more conspiracy theories.
good grief.
anyway. awesome song. :)
well actually, I watched a behind the scenes thing were katy perry herself said she had always wondered about dating an alien and thats what the songs about, an actual alien,
@MusicJunkie09 Wrong. It definitely has to do with Reptilians. She is straight out telling you, yet you want to put your own spin on it, so it is more palatable for you. Research.
@MusicJunkie09 Well I agree, but these so-called "conspiracy theories" are actually quite factual. So….
Agree Lola lol.
ugh >< you guys its about Russell Brand! he's from "another world" of drugs, rampant sex, and no inhibitions, Katy comes from an insanely conservative background. Russell is English, foreign. Katy is American. its just a play on concepts. and also if you wan to look at it a little more literally because foreign people (although most often illegal immigrants) are called Aliens here. shes not really singing about having sex with little green men, people. come on. its not that hard to figure out
I know what you're thinking. Katy Perry didn't write Trock, but hear me out. "Could you be the devil? Could you be an angel?" Didn’t Reinette, in Girl in the Fireplace, say something like this?
"You’re from a whole other world a different dimension" Obvious reference is obvious. Different world = Gallifrey. Different dimension, TIME is the 4th dimension. HE IS A TIME LORD.
"You’re so super sonic" Um. Sonic screwdriver, bro.
"They say be afraid you’re not like the others" Didn’t Martha’s mom say almost exactly this?!
"Infect me with your love, and fill me with your poison" This one’s a little backwards, Katy. The Doctor and Rose’s first kiss was when the DOCTOR was getting “filled with poison” (aka taking the vortex out of Rose).
"I wanna walk on your wave length and be there when you vibrate for you i risk it all" This reminds me of The Parting of the Ways when Rose decided that she’s going to risk everything for the Doctor. “Be there when you vibrate” could also be interpreted as “be there when you regenerate.” Which she has been. She’s been there when he regenerating into Ten and right before regenerating out of Ten.
Whatever. this might sound like a fangirl swooning at a song that is vaguely about Doctor Who, but remember who Katy Perry is married to. Russell Brand. And I hope he’d show her the best of British pop culture, which arguably is Doctor Who.
Awesome! Just... awesome! :) That makes sooo much sense! Thank you!
I dunno what you're smoking, but...
Seriously? Kary Perry singing about Doctor freaking Who? Yes, because that fits in SO well with her album about teenage dreams and sudden breakups, and heartache.
YES, she is DEFINITELY singing about Doctor Who.
(Just a footnote, I love Doctor Who, but... FREAKING SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! I mean, you're joking, right?! RIGHT?!?! BAHAHA!!! W-o-w.)
Oh, I love this fandom...
I don't think it's about the doctor but who cares! I love Doctor Who so I'd love to think this is true :D
absolutely beautiful...its about a different , weird person that attracts her....its a new feeling...i personally know this feeling cause i am in love with a guy like him...he isnt an alien but he is also weird and beautiful.....ORE <3
this song is so hot.....to me it's about a new love...something completely different than what u knew before
This is about the Doctor and (most probably) Rose.
Duh.
I love this comment!!
And I definitely agree, this is the perfect Rose/Doctor song!
Yes. Yes it is.
Haha! Totally agree, fellow Whovian!
@Elinious Nope. Reptilians.
First off, I like the song because it has a catchy beat that makes you want to dance. However, the song disturbs me because when I analyze this song I notice that its playing on the weak, submissive - very passive gender role that this society finds "sexy" for women. For instance: "You're so supersonic/Wanna feel your power/ Stun me with your laser" coupled with "Take me, t-t-take me/ Wanna be your victim" - these two stanzas - or verses - use hostile words to describe this dynamic they have. She's pleading to be "taken" and she wants to be victimized. This is not at all empowering to women. In fact it sets up a very narrow view of what makes a woman sexy. It's superficial, and ultimately it perpetuates a dangerous stereotype that it's okay to victimize women. I'm not saying this was intentional. I'm also not saying that the man she sings about is abusive. It's just interesting that in this society it's sexy when women follow the "subservient" dynamic in a relationship. But I know a lot of people love this song - I'm not trying to crap all over it - I like it too, the composure of the music and the premise of the song are wonderful... I just wish she would have sent a better subtextual message.
Excellent point! The lyrics made me uncomfortable as well, but I didn't realize why until I read your comment.
@lotr9690 Take your feminism down a notch! jeez!
@lotr9690 lol Do you not understand sex? Katy just wants it really bad. Nothing demeaning about that. If a woman wants to be submissive in sex, like if she wants a man to "take her", then there's nothing wrong with that. It's not a "dangerous stereotype". It's a sexual preference, and it shouldn't bother you.
Fact: Katy Perry's "E.T." is about the Doctor. Thus; Fact: Katy Perry met the Doctor.
Uuuh... one word. TEN. <3
I love this song. I am not a big Katy Perry fan (I really don't find her voice of excellent quality), but this song is such a turn on. It's hauntingly sexy and sensual. Why she (or her people) ever wanted Kanye West in the song is beyond me; this version is SO much better than the one featuring him.
Agreed!
I believe that each song has a different meaning to each person but to me it means she found someone she loves but he's different than other people, and people probably call him weird because he's different. And she loves that about him, she loves that he is not just another 'normal' person. :)
