I breathe you in with smoke in the backyard lights
(Backyard light)
We used to laugh until we choked into the wasted nights
(Wasted nights)
It was the best time of my life, but now I sleep alone
(Sleep alone)
So darling, don't, don't wake me up, 'cause my thrill is gone
(Say I'm wrong)
In the sunset turning red behind the smoke
Forever and alone
Yeah!

You've gone and sewn me to this bed, the taste of you and me
(You and me)
Will never leave my lips again under the blinding rain
(Blinding rain)
I wanna hold your hand so tight I'm gonna break my wrist
(Break my wrist)
And when the vultures sing tonight I'm gonna join right in

I'll sing along, oh
'Cause I don't know any other song
I'll sing along
But I'm barely hanging on
No, I'm barely hanging on
By the time you're hearing this I'll already be gone
And now there's nothing to do but scream at the drunken moon

This isn't fair!
(No!)
Don't you try to blame this on me
(Ohhh)
My love for you was bulletproof but you're the one who shot me
And God damn it, I can barely say your name
So I'll try to write and fill the pen with blood from the sink
Woah oh, oh oh
But don't just say it, you should sing my name
Pretend that it's a song 'cause forever it's yours
And we can sing this on the way home

I'll sing along
(Oh)
'Cause I don't know any other song
(Oh oh)
I'll sing along
But I'm barely hanging on
No, I'm barely hanging on
By the time you're hearing this I'll already be gone
And now there's nothing to do but tear my voice apart
Nothing to do
And scream at the drunken moon

Song meaning i came up with: (He's reminiscing about a girl he used to go out with whom he loved, and now he's alone and feels sort of depressed, to the point where he feels like hurting himself because he doesn't think he can go on without her love and he misses her and he never stopped loving her, but she did so she tried blaming the whole situation on him so she could make the break-up easier on her conscious, so she was trying to trick him into feeling like the reason for the break-up when it was really her fault. He tried his hardest to tell her that they could make it worktear my voice apart But she just had no feelings for him so he was just trying to make it work with someone who quiet frankly didn't want it to work out. Scream at the drunken moon. so there was nothing he could do, but accept the fact that it was over, but he wasn't capable of doing that. So the whole grieving process repeats itself day after day.)

Of course you could just say as the person said above it's self explanatory and basically is about a guy who misses a girl, but there's a whole story that you're just scrapping which i felt i should tell you all about, this is my opinion on what the lyrics mean of course.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
