"Disasterology" as written by and Michael Fuentes Tom Denney....
I laid down,
I drank the poison then I passed the fuck out.
Now let me tell you 'bout the good life,
I have a million different kinds of fun
when I'm asleep and in a dream that I'm your only one.

Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
Nobody knows I dream about it, this is my imagination.

If you come over tonight we can travel through time,
we can sleep on the ceiling and creep under black lights.
I have a million different girls that hide under my bed,
and when I let them out they treat me right.
Oh what a waste of a perfectly good, clean wrist.
You were screaming till the police came.

Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
Nobody knows I dream about it, this is my imagination.
If every living thing dies alone,
what am I doing here?
If every living thing dies alone,
what am I doing here?
(Fuck it!)

If it's the end of the world!
If it's the end of the world,
you and me should spend the rest of it in love!

Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
Nobody knows I dream about it, this is my imagination.
If every living thing dies alone,
what am I doing here?
If every living thing dies alone,
what am I doing here?
What am I doing here?
Oh, no.

    My InterpretationThe song takes alot from the movie Donnie Darko, especially a few specific parts. First they talk about a short story called "The Destructors" by Graham Greene which Donnie, in class, comments on the main theme of the book, "They say right when they flood the house and they tear it to shreds that... destruction is a form of creation," so the fact that they burn the money is ironic. They just want to see what happens when they tear the world apart. They want to change things." The song title seems to be taken as a derivative of the title of this book, also the line, "Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?" seems to be taken from this theme of the movie as well. Secondly the line in the song, "If every living thing dies alone. What am I doing here?", seems to be taken directly from what Roberta Sparrow whispers in Donnies ear. She says "Every living thing on earth dies alone." This troubles Donnie greatly in the movie and the "what am i doing here?" seems to be what PTV imagines what is going through Donnies head as he ponders the message. Several other lines allude to the movie including, "If you come over tonight, we can travel through time." Time travel is a huge part of the movie. One more, "If it's the end of the world,
    You and me should spend the rest of it in love", the end of the world comes after Halloween when Donnie can travel back in time to save the life of Gretchen by letting his own be taken. There are probably even more references in the song but honestly im tired of typing. My interpretation is that PTV is documenting their interpretation of Donnies thoughts through the movie. I hope this gives some people some ideas, thanks for reading.

    This song is basically about a typical guy's dream. It talks about girls, drinking and having the time of your life. It's very poetic and drifts around just like a person's mind would inside of a dream. I purposely just wrote down the first things that popped into my head. The chorus talks about building something beautiful only to destroy it. This is a very philosophical idea that I've played around with for a long time. I wrote most of the music in Florida with my good friend [former ADTR guitarist] Tom Denney. He and I worked on the music for this song, "The Boy Who Could Fly" and "The Sky Under The Sea." Love you, Tom!

    General CommentWell this is just my thinking of it!(:

    I laid down, I drank the poison and then I passed the fuck out.
    Now, let me tell you about the good life.
    I have a million different kinds of fun.
    When I'm asleep and in a dream that I'm your only one.
    (By the poison he means drugs or drinks, so then when he just out of it he probably means "good life" as funny and humorous stories that really no one is gonna remember the next morning. Then when he's either asleep or just thinking/day dreaming, in all seriousness, he wishes he was hers)

    Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
    Nobody knows I dream about it.
    This is my imagination.
    ("...Create something beautiful and destroy it?" hes saying even if it only last for a week or so he'd kill to be with her. And even in his dreams he wants to be with her so much he thinks about what he'd say/do if he had her)

    If you come over tonight, we can travel through time.
    We can sleep on the ceiling and creep under black lights.
    I have a million different girls that hide under my bed.
    And when I let them out they treat me right.
    (He still wants her so "travel through time..." until the whole "black lights" part means to spend a whole day with her to prove he's right for her, and that they can have a better time together than anyone else who's been/will be with her.)

    Oh, what a waste of a perfectly good, clean wrist.
    You were screaming till the police came.
    (Well the "clean wrist" I can think of would be if maybe she cut herself and then realized it wasn't exactly needed and maybe she overreacted so then she thought it was a waste on the clear skin without scars)

    Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
    Nobody knows I dream about it.
    This is my imagination.
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    (He starts thinking negitive instead
    of the more postive thoughts saying that "now maybe I shouldn't even try because I'll never get her")

    If it's the end of the world.
    If it's the end of the world.
    You and me should spend the rest of it in love.
    (Pretty straight forward basically just "Give me one chance it won't kill you")

    Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
    Nobody knows I dream about it,
    This is my imagination.
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    What am I doing here?
    Oh, no

    My InterpretationThis is just what comes to my mind when I listen to this song :)

    It sounds like a guy falls for a girl but thinks she doesn't care/is unfaithful ("When I'm asleep and in a dream that I'm your only one.") so he tries to make her jealous ("I have a million different girls that hide under my bed. And when I let them out they treat me right.") but she actually cares about him and freaks out and tries to kill herself or something ("Oh, what a waste of a perfectly good, clean wrist. You were screaming till the police came."). Now the guy feels guilty and starts thinking about life ("If every living thing dies alone, What am I doing here?")

    I feel like the whole "story" is how they wanted something beautiful but destroyed it.

    My InterpretationI laid down, I drank the poison and then I passed the fuck out.
    Now, let me tell you about the good life.
    I have a million different kinds of fun.
    When I'm asleep and in a dream that I'm your only one.
    {He got drunk and started to tell stories to the girl. He has fallen for her and wants to be her only one.}
    Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
    Nobody knows I dream about it.
    This is my imagination.
    {This will come later. I will tell you soon.}

    If you come over tonight, we can travel through time.
    We can sleep on the ceiling and creep under black lights.
    I have a million different girls that hide under my bed.
    And when I let them out they treat me right.
    {He wants them to spend time together. He talks about his girls, aka blades, that he loves and is addicted to.}
    Oh, what a waste of a perfectly good, clean wrist.
    You were screaming till the police came.
    {She realizes she really does care about him and wants to be with him. The girl freaks because he self harms and has panic attacks. She freaks out and attempts to kill herself. He called the police and she cried the whole time.}

    Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
    Nobody knows I dream about it.
    This is my imagination.
    {Can God create a beautiful human being, and let society destroy it? I think the real meaning of this chorus is that we are created and we are beautiful, yet the world destroys it by its acts of cruelty.}

    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    {He's practically alone. If everything that is alone dies, what is he doing on this Earth? He's contemplating suicide.}

    If it's the end of the world.
    If it's the end of the world.
    You and me should spend the rest of it in love.
    {He's telling her that if its nearing the end (they're both going to kill themselves) they should be together when it happens.}
    Can we create something beautiful and destroy it?
    Nobody knows I dream about it,
    This is my imagination.
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    If every living thing dies alone,
    What am I doing here?
    What am I doing here?
    Oh, no.
    {He failed but the girl did not. She killed herself, but he failed. He's alone but still alive.}

    Song Meaningok this is my favourite part of the song and i wanted to say what i think when i hear it. i could be way off but here it goes:

    I have a million different girls that hide under my bed.
    And when I let them out they treat me right.
    >> initially I thought he was talking about porn, but then a friend pointed out to me he could be talking about his blades. he uses “girls” to refer to the blades which he uses for self-harm. “treat me right” means he’s so far into the addiction that the pain of the sharp metal breaking skin is comforting to him.
    Oh, what a waste of a perfectly good, clean wrist.
    >>and here again, another self-harm reference which he talks about the scars that have been left on his wrist (I think he’s talking about himself but I could be wrong)
