Once more do we all fall down from the top of the mound to here
Once more do we all let go as the trees begin to cheer
It's time to take our lives into our own hands again
It's time to take what's mine and leave this town for them

Don't set me on fire I'm not ready to burn yet
The conversation got distressing when you said the word "regret"
Just leave me to my own defences
I find lying so offensive

Jump around 'til you fall to the ground
You'll make a sound that no-one can hear
Flying high as you reach for the sky but get shot down when you're near
Why does it seem this time I'm breathing in slowly just to feel?
Why does everyone do that to justify they're real?

Don't set me on fire I'm not ready to burn yet
The conversation got distressing when you said the word "regret"
Just leave me to my own defences
I find lying so offensive

Don't set me on fire I'm not ready to burn yet
The conversation got distressing when you said the word "regret"
Just leave me to my own defences
I find lying so offensive

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
