There once was a time when I was a girl
that darkness hung in my sky
I was old before I learned to be young
stone cold till I learn how to cry

and the weeds in the ground have grow up through my skin
it's taking a lonesome girl's heart
I will go where the stolen roses grow
to forget that I have fell apart

the thorns on the roses cut through my skin
the vultures flew down and then pecked
what lay on the surface was a tiny crack
and below was a gigantic wreck
so I held my head down and I dealt with the blows
In hope that I'd soon be free to go where the stolen roses grow
to forget I have bad memory

I will go where the stolen roses grow
I will go where the stolen roses grow
and the weeds in the ground have grow up through my skin
It's taking a lonesome girl's heart
I will go where the stolen roses grow
to forget that I have fell apart

I will go where the stolen roses grow
I will go where the stolen roses grow
I will go where the stolen roses grow

General CommentFirst verse- I think it's about being emotionally dead and learning how to feel or express your thoughts and feelings rather than it being natural, like it is to most people.

Second verse- the past has caught up with her, and the unwanted truths of reality are starting to bother her, so she escapes to the fantasy of 'stolen roses', as in happiness that is not truly hers, or into her dreams, so she doesn't have to deal with the truth (the weeds).

Third verse- but the roses have thorns because she know it's not real and she can't escape the truth forever, so she learns she has to accept and deal with the troubles of the past so that she can go back to being happy in this dreamland she's invented, which protects her from reality. But at this point the rest of the world can see the truth of her emotions. This refers back to the first verse- so she has learnt to express her feelings, or has just had them exposed.

The rest of it is just the same though. :)
