"What If I Say Please?" as written by Finn Bjarnson, Finn Bjarnson, John Hancock, John Hancock, Ryan Raddon, Ryan Raddon, Becky Jean Williams and Becky Jean Williams....
What a sensational display.
So sentimentally arrayed.
Such a theatrical gesture.
These specialized effects, they fester.

So don't appeal me parading like a pantomime I mean.
It's unfeeling and I'm unwilling; let me be.

What if I say please?
What if I say please?
(What if I say...what if I say...what if I say...)

Cry your premeditated tears
So tenderly, so insincere.
Such feigned, calculated reasons
These warm smiles, they're freezing.

So don't appeal me parading like a pantomime I mean.
It's unfeeling and I'm unwilling; let me be.
So don't appeal me parading like a pantomime I mean.
It's unfeeling and I'm unwilling; let me be.

What if I say please?
What if I say please?

My InterpretationWhoever she is in a relationship with is being insincere with her and she knows it and is insulted by the fake, calculated and even theatrical displays of what should be real emotions that just aren't there for the other person, yet they continue to feign it for whatever reason.

She sees it in their smile and everything, they are being disingenuous and lying to themselves and her. The person she's singing about is simply going through the motions, pantomiming the role they've assumed but isn't who they truly are.

She's obviously hurt but over it and is moving past it, with hints of the pantomime still bugging her even though she's now numb to the situation.
