"Believe" as written by Elisabeth Maurus and Morgan Page....
I caught a glimpse of the future
I thought a hint, like doom

Tick tock, two minutes to go
I should have seen the signs years ago
Tried to warn them it was coming
Tried to tell them what I'd seen

I saw the towers crumble
I saw the long distance fall
And I can see how you'd think I'm crazy
But you're the one with no sense at all

I want to believe
In the light of a dream
Place that we go
World that we know
In light of a dream

I want to believe
In the light of a dream
Place that we go
World that we know

In the layer in between
Of this life and a dream
In a place tied to the past
I should have known that it never lasts

I saw the people rising
I saw the great divide
And I could see how you think I'm crazy
But you're the one that tried to run and hide

I want to believe
In the light of a dream
Place that we go
World that we know
The light of a dream

I want to believe
In the light of a dream
Place that we go
World that we know

And the world gets lost
When it gets to be so heavy
How did they get the control?
Is there any way we can go?

Put my heart in your hand
'Til you squeeze all you can
How you gave me life to make me
Hold my heart and you'll save me

I want to-ooh believe
In the light of a dream
In a place that we go
Beyond the world we know

I want to believe
In the light of a dream
Place that we go
World that we know
In light of a dream

I want to believe
In the light of a dream
Place that we go
World that we know

I want to-ooh believe
In the light of a dream
In a place that we go
Beyond the world we know

General CommentNo comments? D: I love this along with Morgan Page's other songs~ I'm not too good at interpreting songs but I'll try because I love it so much. XD

I think it's about a woman who's seen a vision of an apocalyptic future, and tried to warn the others, but they don't listen to her ("And I can see how you think I'm crazy"). The government/rulers were overthrown ("How did they get the control") and everything's just spinning out of control. She keeps hoping for a better future, maybe that they could all go somewhere else safe. Or that she dreams or thinks of the way thing used to be.

I just don't understand the fourth stanza to the last.
"Put my heart in your hands
Till you squeeze all you can
How you give me life to make me
Oh my heart can you save me"
    Maybe she wants to sacrifice herself? Or she's talking to God? I can't really make sense of it, haha. ^^;

My InterpretationI see that there isn't any discussion here, which is a bit disappointing. I was hoping to find what the lyrics actually mean, according to whoever wrote them.

I find this song beautiful and artistically inspiring, with haunting lyrics and dark instrumentation that really drives home the imagery of chaos and destruction, as well as the feelings of the "speaker"—horror, panic, annoyance with the people who won't listen to her, the knowledge of inevitable doom.

As for the meaning behind it... I can't see anything beyond what is literally said. Somehow getting knowledge of a horrible future, trying to warn people but perhaps not getting them to listen, wishing desperately for a better possible outcome ("the light of a dream") but not quite being able to muster the hope ("I want to believe").

I get the impression that the singer is speaking to humanity as a whole during the verses (or one person who represents humanity, e.g. the singer is talking to a specific person about the end of the world, and this person has the same reaction as everyone else). The tone is exasperated—"you're the one with no sense at all".

At the same time, the singer seems somewhat resigned—in "tried to warn them it was coming" the word "tried" implies that it didn't work, and the past tense implies that they're not trying any more. "I can see how you'd think I'm crazy" seems to say that they've given up on getting people to believe them.

The meaning of the latter half of the bridge is a little less intuitive. My own interpretation is that the singer knows one person—a friend, family member, significant other, etc—who breaks through the visions of terror and death and makes the singer feel a little peace or hope. The way the instrumentation breaks off before the bridge—the heavy beats falling away, leaving just a little quiet, melodic background—makes me think of this person, in the middle of their frustrated struggle, turning to a loved one and having a moment of tender calm. As impossible as their task may seem, that one person makes them feel a little bit uplifted ("How you gave me life to make me"). They come to invest their whole heart, their whole self in this person ("Put my heart in your hand"), and the love of this person is all they have left to hope for ("Hold my heart and you'll save me"). The line "Till you squeeze all you can" may refer to the singer's willingness to yield anything to the other person, to give up anything for this person.

(To anyone who has seen the anime "Puella Magi Madoka Magica", all of this might sound familiar.)

A real-world interpretation of this song might be about the future of humanity in the modern world—the writer of the lyrics may be contemplating the unwillingness in people to change their ways to prevent disaster, and the inevitable end of the world due to human stubbornness (which is not something I personally agree with).
