"Later On" as written by and Kate Marie Nash....
That boy behind the curtain was no one that I trusted
I didn't like his face I didn't think he was cute
But I kissed him just to get some information
I used my body and his desperation

We jumped up out of there, yeah we were chased
And I'm telling you that that time was a scary place
But I would do it all again the same yeah,
I would do it all again the same

And later on I'll cry my stupid eyes out
Later on I'm crying like a baby
And yeah baby don't get so disappoint
I am not what you anticipated
Later on I'll cry my stupid eyes out
Later on I'm crying like a baby
And yeah baby don't get so disappoint
I am not what you anticipated

I wish that I did not make the decisions
I'll never get back in to that
I ripped my hair out of my package
Cause I felt bad
I let him down
I didn't mean to make him sad

And later on I'll cry my stupid eyes out
Later on I'm crying like a baby
And yeah baby don't get so disappoint
I am not what you anticipated
Later on I'll cry my stupid eyes out
Later on I'm crying like a baby
And yeah baby don't get so disappoint
I am not what you anticipated

Four

Seven

Eleven

And later on I'll cry my stupid eyes out
Later on I'm crying like a baby
And yeah baby don't get so disappoint
I am not what you anticipated
Later on I'll cry my stupid eyes out
Later on I'm crying like a baby
And yeah baby don't get so disappoint
I am not what you anticipated

I am not what you anticipated

General CommentKate said this song was based on a dream that she had where she had to kiss a guy to get him to help her out of this town. The chorus is about making mistakes and being defenceless about it.

Song MeaningI can relate to this intense, poignant song. My interpretation: The speaker meets a male who suspiciously approaches her out of the blue and immediately shows a strong interest in her. He emits a seedy vibe and isn't attractive at all but she disregards her uneasy feelings and impulsively demonstrates physical affection for him anyway, seeking a thrill. Other people find out about the incident and spread rumours. The girl and boy react by fleeing, leading to a sense of false relief. Her initial belief is that she's done nothing wrong and she even wouldn't mind repeating the experience. However, the aftereffects do in fact bother her and she's crying about it like there's no tomorrow. She didn't expect she would be so upset. The boy pressures her into going farther with him but she simply isn't willing. She feels guilty for being unchaste, deceptive and unable to predict consequences, experiencing a whole range of uneasy emotions including depression, anger and anxiety.

General CommentThis song for me describes something that happened between me and this guy. All of my friends told me not to trust him because he has a really bad reputation for sleeping around. He started talking to me out of the blue one day while I was out of town. He said he wanted to hang out when I got back so we did. I went over to his house and we ended up having sex. That was the first time I had sex with someone who I wasn't in a relationship with, and I felt really bad afterwards and even told him. Anyways, we continued to see each and I started to have feelings for him. I started seeing another guy at the same time because I thought that the guy didn't actually have feelings for me. It turns out he did, but I really messed things up. There are no words to describe how terrible I felt and still feel about it, but this song helps a bit. I can really relate to her how she says she would do it all again but also how she wishes she hadn't made those decisions. It really is a terrible feeling to know how much you hurt someone, and at the same time hurting yourself just as much. Then she says how she ripped her hair out because she felt bad. I like the line, "I let him down, I didn't mean to make him sad." I really didn't mean to hurt his feelings, I was only trying to protect myself. Also, I can totally relate to crying like a baby over this situation. When she slowly counts to 11 I see it as a way to calm down from all the anxiety, worries, and depression. The part about not being what you anticipated also really relates to this situation for me. I don't think that I was who the guy expected me to be and vice versa. We both fell for each other, whether we intended to or not, and both were hurt in the end.
