Take me home

Just do it right
Make it perfect and real
Because it's everything
No everything was never the deal

So grab your things and stumble into the night
So we can shut the door
Oh, shut the door on terrible times

Yeah, do it right
And head again into space
So you can carry on
And carry on, and fall all over the place

This is the trick, forget a terrible year
That we can break the laws
Until it gets weird

And this is what you waited for
But under lights, we're all unsure
So tell me
What would make you feel better?

As night has such a local ring
And love and rock are pick-up things
And you know it
Yeah, you know it
Yeah, you know

Take

Forget your past
This is your last chance now
And we can break the rules
Like nothing will last

You might forget
Forget the sound of a voice
Still you should not forget
Yeah, don't forget
The things that we laughed about

And after rolling on the floor
And thankfully, a few make sure that you get home
And you stay home
And you better

'Cause you're afraid of what you need
Yeah, you're afraid of what you need
If you weren't, yeah you weren't
Then I don't know what we'd talk about

Yeah no one ever knows what you're talking about
So i guess you're already there
No one opens up when you scream and shout
But it's time to make a couple things clear

If you're afraid of what you need
If you're afraid of what you need
Look around you, you're surrounded
It won't get any better

Until the night

General Commenti think this song's about coming to the realization that home is not what you think it was. Home being you, what you're comfortable with, what you want to do. I think the entire album is about growing older, transitioning from the never-ending party of your 20s to your 30s, where partying every night may not really be what you want to do. so the whole album's about trying to find your place again.
cool stuff, awesome song. it's a toss up between this one and dance yrself clean for best song on the album

General CommentThe meaning is clear. More importantly than the meaning is how badass this song is. I give it a 6 out of 5.

General CommentI think this song is about LCD's breakup/retirement. In the music video the robot is the band. They know that they should move on (for whatever reason,) but they know they'll regret it. (afraid of what you need.)

Staying together won't solve anything because even though it's fun partying and being a band and having everyone fawning over you, inevitably the whole experience just becomes dirty and unattractive. they feel like they have a connection with their audience, but no one can actually have a relationship with a crowd of people. (Yeah no one ever knows what you're talking about, so i guess you're already there. No one opens up when you scream and shout)

It's time to move on. It is also fitting that this is the last track of the last album.

General CommentThis album is like every awesome party I've ever been to, packed into an hour or so. And of course this is how I feel when I'm trying to get home after some sort of shenanigans. Brilliant.

My InterpretationTo me, this song sums up all your varied experiences with friends--the bad, when you "shut the door on terrible times," and the good when you're "rolling on the floor" (laughing). But no matter whether the times you had were great or awful, the constant is that you always come home.

I just graduated from high school this year and I considered this my "graduation song," listening to it on my drive home from graduation and on the drive home after every night I saw my friends for what could be the last time before they shipped off to college. Some lines felt really poignant from that angle.

General Commentthis song is about life in general..friends, love, mistakes, drugs/alcohol.. making the best of what we have in our life.. it says it in the last line..

If you're afraid of what you need
If you're afraid of what you need
    Look around you, you're surrounded
    It won't get any better

not to look at it in a negative way..but to realize that what we have been offereed in this life is beautiful..and to make the best of it.. :]
this was the song of the year for me and a couple friends..well exfriends now.. i hope that one day 'you' and i can come together again.. i miss you. 'Home' <3

General CommentHmm, I always thought it was "And love and rock are fickle things." That sounds more correct to me than "pick up things," which makes no sense.
