heard your voice cut through the basement noise
made my way through the crowd
your guitar was screaming in the dark
your black stratocaster sound
it was holy
it felt so holy
i said holy shit

went outside, perfect midwestern night
rode my bike through the town
saw the sky look like a handful of sparkles
falling shimmering down
it was holy
it felt so holy
i said holy shit

General CommentThis song has been stuck in my head all day. The lyrics are short and simple but the feeling behind them is so pure and strong. If you've never had one of those holy moments that make you say, "Holy shit," you've got to start doing something different with your life. The "Holy shit" line cracks me up every time I hear this; coming out of the long, drawn-out, beautifully sung "so holy," the way he talk-sings, "I said 'Holy shit' is funny and just somehow perfect at the same time.
